Q:  Is there a song that reminds you of a book? Or vice versa? What is the song & the book?

You guys, this is going to be the most boring answer ever, but no, I don’t have a song that reminds me of a book.  I just don’t.  In fact, I almost never pay attention to lyrics in songs to begin with.  I know, that sounds ridiculous, but I’m usually more interested in the sound of the song (the voice of the singer, the instrumental music).  Since I don’t really pay attention to the lyrics much, they usually don’t remind me of books, and vice versa.

I guess there are a few songs that I associate with certain stories.  Here’s one that comes to mind – but it’s kind of cheating because it’s from a musical based on the book that I associate it with.  Does that make sense?  Anyway, below is the song that reminds me of Matilda by Roald Dahl:

*Yeah, and I am a total showtunes fan!  🙂 *

My daughter loves Roald Dahl. Great choice.

  4. Hmmm I don’t think I have a song that reminds me of a book either… this is a tough one! I like the one you chose though! I just watched Matilda recently with my daughter and she loved it. I had forgotten how terrible those damn parents were. Ugh!

  5. Oh I love showtunes too and while I don’t often associate music to books, every once in a while a song will remind me of a certain character (like my answer this week) Hope you stop by My FF 🙂

  6. I have a pretty boring answer too because I also don’t listen to the lyrics. *kindred spirits*

I didn’t know Matilda was a musical, lol. That’s pretty cool!

Twins! I am so glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t listen to the lyrics of songs.

Yeah, Matilda was made into a musical in the UK a year or two ago. It did so well (and won tons of awards) that the powers the be decided to bring it to Broadway. It opens soon (or maybe just opened, I’m not sure).

I’m going to see it in June, and I am ridiculously excited.

  7. Hi! I love musicals, but don’t really listen to music while I read. 🙂

At least you have the excuse of not listening to the lyrics. I do listen to them and pay attention to them and I still couldn’t make a connection, or at least one that I remember. Thanks for visiting my F&FF. New bloglovin’ follower.

You’re so not cheating! I chose the song because it had the same title as the book 🙂 I think it’s really difficult to find a song that fits if usually you don’t combine music and books. I like the song, by the way – so cute!

  10. Daphne says:

That happens to me a lot too! When I read a book, I really don’t care for the lyrics, just the mood the song puts me in and the voice of the singer.

  11. That is adorable! I definitely need to see this musical based on all the great things I’ve seen you write about it. I’m the exact opposite on thinking of songs to go with books…I do it all the time. I think it is the former dancer in me that is always imagining what kind of story a song is trying to tell. Happy Friday!

    • Quinn says:

That’s funny that you say that, because I was a dancer, too. I did ballet all the way until I graduated high school. For me, I like a song more based on the mood the song puts me in.

I really enjoy musicals, they are fun. Though I haven’t read or seen Matilda 😦

  16. Great answer & pick! It’s funny you mention that because my bf is exactly like you~ he can be the biggest fan of a song, but his focus is more on melody and the singer’s voice that lyrics…I’ve always found that cool because I’m such a huge lyrics person…BUT even still, I had a hard time with this question hehe Thanks for sharing ♥
