Top Ten All Time Favorite Romances

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s TTT is all about our favorite books in any genre of our choosing.  Since I love the romance, and since this genre covers so many books, I thought it would be the perfect genre to focus on.

In no particular order . . .

Adult Romances

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I mean, seriously!!  Mr. Darcy!

2.  Julia Quinn
Haha, okay this is an author not a single book, but I feel like it’s ALMOST impossible to go wrong with her.  But if I HAD to narrow it down, I’d choose The Viscount Who Loved Me, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, and How to Marry a Marquis.  OH!!!  And What Happens in London.  Yeah, obviously I couldn’t just choose one JQ book.

3.  A Week to Be Wicked by Tessa Dare
Tessa Dare is a recent discovery, and what a fantastic discovery.  It’s really hard to just pick ONE of her books, but I think the I have to focus on A Week to Be Wicked.  Colin and Minerva’s story is just so much fun.  But very close behind would be A Night to Surrender and Romancing the Duke.

4.  A Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas
Oh my gosh, you guys, no one does the whole reformed hero like Kleypas does.  This book is A-Freaking-Mazing!  All the feels.  Also, Evie is one of my favorite heroines ever.  I so identify with her regarding her shyness.

5.  The Secret by Julie Garwood
I LOVE Julie Garwood’s historicals.  Serious love, you guys.  But there is something about this one that really speaks to me.  Iain and Judith are just too sweet.

6. Edenbrooke Julianne Donaldson
If you are interested in romance, but not the sexy times, or if you just like romance win general, you must read this one.  It’s sweet, and fun, and the main characters are amazing.  Actually, I kind of want to re-read this one now.

7.  Every Boy’s Got One by Meg Cabot
You all know I love Meg Cabot.  Well, maybe you didn’t know, but you do now.  This is my favorite adult book of hers.  It’s typically light and funny Meg Cabot fair, but I especially loved the main characters.  It even has a Pride and Prejudice feel.  Who doesn’t love that?

Teen Romances

8.  Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
I get all the feels with McGarry’s book, but this is my favorite of hers.  Although I really loved Dare You To and Crash Into You, there is something about Noah and Echo’s story that I can’t resist.

9.  Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
You guys, this book is amazing.  Just the way Rowell describes holding hands makes me swoon.  It’s a little bittersweet, though.

10.  The Distance Between Us by Kasie West
If this isn’t the cutest story ever, I don’t know what is.

Okay, I could go on and on here.  I just love the romance.  But these are some of my ALL TIME FAVORITES EVER!  Do you like romance?  What are your favorites?

Ginger is a mix between a poodle and havanese, and Daphne is Bichon Frise. I love the romance in The Distance Between Us. Such great characters and a believable relationship.

  2. This is the second time today I’ve heard of The Devil in Winter, and I feel like that is a sign! I need to read that book! I also love E&P and think it’s the best hand-holding scene in YA. 😉

  3. I don’t read a lot of adult romance.. but I do like YA romance. E&P was amazing. Rowell is good about writing about people. Fangirl is great too if you haven’t read that one yet.

I was tempted to do a general romance list as well but then I knew I would have a harder time trying to trim that list to ten. LOL. So I just picked my Top Ten historical romances.

But thanks for sharing all these amazing romance novels. Some of them are in my list too. I love Devil in Winter and Romancing Mister Bridgerton. The Viscount Who Loved Me is a close #11 for me. I also adored Eleanor and Park. It was one of my best reads of 2013. I’m actually reading Crash Into You by Katie McGarry right now. 🙂

Here’s My Top Ten Tuesday list 🙂

  5. Pushing the Limits is on my list too! I loved The Distance Between Us, and Eleanor and Park is at the top of my TBR. Great list! 😀

Great list! I am new to the adult romance genre, so I will make note of your suggestions. I agree with you about E&P and Pushing the Limits. I haven’t read The Distance Between Us, but I really want to! I’ll have to move that one up on my TBR list.

  7. bftreviews says:

I love Pride & Prejudice. It’s such a great book. Nice list!

  8. I LOVE romance too! Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn and Katie McGarry are amazing.

  9. Gotta love Pride and Prejudice and Pushing the Limits. I really need to read Eleanor and Park.

  10. Pushing the Limits was my favorite my Garry book, too. I still need to read E&P and The Distance Between Us, but I’m sure I’ll love them, because Fangirl and Pivot Point were fantastic, These two books both also made my list this week, but in a different way!

  11. Though I didn’t care much for how The Distance Between Us ended, I did enjoy how their relationship unfolded.

  12. I love that you couldn’t pick a JQ book…I have a hard time with that. Devil in Winter is amazing…I want to be BFFs with Evie and have sexy, fun times with St. Vincent. I also love Pushing the Limits, Pride and Prejudice, and A Week to Be Wicked. I actually just requested Edenbrooke from my library today based on your recommendations. Great list and thanks for sharing!

  13. Megan says:

I am currently reading Crash Into You. Katie McGarry can sure can write a steamy YA romance. One of my favorite YA romance books is My Life Next door by Huntley Fitzpatrick. Thanks for stopping by!

  14. Yes to ‘Pride and Prejudice!’ I also would have accepted ‘Sense and Sensibility.’ I’ll always have a bit of a soft spot for Colonel Brandon. And it’s also true that I may get a little swoon-y picturing Jonny Lee Miller as Edmund in ‘Mansfield Park…’

  15. I LOVE Edenbrooke! And of course P&P is a favorite.

  16. I really need to check out Every Boy’s Got One – I grew up on Meg’s YA books, so I’m sure I’d love her adult novels too.

    Fabulous choices! 🙂

  17. So I’ve been on a hunt for that Lisa Kleypas series every time I’m in a bookstore and without fail I CAN NEVER FIND IT. I know I could easily purchase it online, but for some reason I only think to buy the book when I’m in an actual book store. I really want to read it though!!!

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
