Book Haul #41

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews.  The Sunday Post is a weekly event hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week as well as other interesting book news.

dreaming anastasia

Dreaming Anastasia by Joy Preble
I picked this one up from my library’s overdrive page.  I knew going in that it didn’t have good reviews, but I had to give it a try because it was sort of about Anastasia Romanov.  I already finished this one.

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
I picked Hex Hall up from Overdrive, too.  It has been on my TBR list for ages, so I decided to finally give it a try.  I already finished it, and it was a lot of fun.

Life Tidbits

  • I’m so glad that it’s the weekend!
  • I was doing so well with my Goodreads Challenge, and was even around 7 books ahead a few weeks ago.  But the last two weeks I haven’t read much at all.  I wouldn’t say I’m in a reading slump, but I am reading below my usual rate.  I need to get back into the reading zone.
  • I’ve really been into organizing stuff lately.  I have some organizing plans this weekend, so I probably won’t be reading as much, but I’ll organize while I listen to my current audiobook, The House of Hades by Rick Riordan.  I love these Percy Jackson books!
  • I ate out way too much this week.  Seriously, I probably ate out at least once a day between Tuesday-Saturday.  I’m thinking of trying meal planning, so that I don’t end up going out to grab food all the time.  I always end up feeling like a pig when I eat out so much.

  1. Dreaming of Anatasia is new to me. I hadn’t heard of it before. It sounds interesting.

  2. I’ve eaten out a lot this week as well – planned meals really help! Even if it takes some extra time (cutting into reading!), it helps in the long run. And AMEN to the weekend! I really want to read the Heroes of Olympus series, but I want them all in hardback so I’m waiting till the final one is published this fall so I can buy the boxed set.

Yay glad you enjoyed Hex Hall! That is a fun series. I listened to a sample of House of Hades and I like the narrator. That’s a 17-hour audiobook- wow!

Have a great weekend and I hope you find a book that snaps you out of your slump 🙂 You look like you are rocking your GR challenge to me though!

  4. ChrissiReads says:

I haven’t read any of these books! They look intriguing though. I often feel like a pig too when I eat out all the time. I tend to eat more than usual! 😀

  5. Christina says:

Awesome books! Hex Hall is a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it! I hear you about eating out…I always feel like crap if I eat out too much and we have been doing a lot of that lately. I hope you have a good weekend!

  6. I have Hex Hall but not managed to read it yet, glad you like it though.

  7. I haven’t read any of these but happy reading!

  8. I love Percy Jackson! I am about 2 books behind on that series though. I’m going to do some organizing and spring cleaning of my closet and bedroom this weekend too. I haven’t done much to it and now it looks like a tornado went through my room.

My sister adores the Hex Hall series. (That’s not what the series is actually called, is it? Can’t remember.) I never read it, but it’s been on my TBR forever too.
I always get into organizing too, but I’m so bad at it. Lately I’ve gotten some kind of ants in my pants. I’ve been running around my room cleaning stuff and throwing tons of things away. I just really want to own less. Haha.

Hex Hall looks interesting! I haven’t seen this one yet 🙂

  12. bftreviews says:

I borrowed Hex Hall from the library ages ago. It was a pretty good book but they don’t have the second one at all! I haven’t decided if I want to buy it yet or not.

  13. I got Hex Hall from Overdrive last summer. I wanted to like it and had I read it 2 years ago I probably would have. I’m glad you enjoyed it though. I’ve been in an organizing mood since last year. Sadly I haven’t actually done much. I blame that on my J-O-B! It takes all the inspiration right out of me. Hope you have a great week!
