Book Haul #39

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews.  The Sunday Post is a weekly event hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week as well as other interesting book news.

Library:

drama

Drama by Raina Telgemeier
I don’t read a ton of graphic novels, but I recently read Telgemeier’s Smile and loved it.  So of course I had to read her other graphic novel.  I’ve read  bit of it already (I’ve been reading it at work – I’m so bad!) and I’m really liking it.

From Amazon:

be with me

Be With Me by J. Lynn
Of course, I had to get my hands on Jennifer L. Armentrout’s newest New Adult.  I’m not really a fan of the cover, though.  It’s just that the guy model looks a little preppy, and I don’t picture Jase preppy.

From Barnes and Noble:

harry-potter_page to screen

Harry Potter Page to Screen: The Complete Filmmaking Journey by Bob McCabe
You guys, I ran into B&N real quick and saw this beauty for only $20!  I couldn’t believe it.  The list price is $75.  AWESOME!

cress

Cress by Marissa Meyer
DUH!  I had to get this.  It’s my FAVORITE cover of the three.  I’m one half-way through, and I think it might be my favorite of the three.

Edelweiss:

on the fence

On the Fence by Kasie West
I feel like I should end the above phrase with a zillion exclamation points.  I’m automatically approved for Harper Teen on Edelweiss, and I SOO took advantage of that. I cannot wait to read this.

Life Tidbits

  • It felt like a really long week.  Did it feel like a long week to you guys?
  • I’m going on a bit of an organizing kick.  I’ve ordered a Filofax from Ebay (It’s sooo pretty) and i plan on totally organizing my life.  I used to be so organize, but four years ago I moved into my house, and somehow I became pretty unorganized (for me anyway).  So I’m determined to get myself together.

About Quinn

I'm a twenty-something children's librarian at a public library in Central New York. I've long left my teen years behind me, but I love to read YA and children's books. I have two adorable dogs. Ginger is a mix between a poodle and havanese, and Daphne is Bichon Frise. Other things I love: Favorite Movie: Singing in the Rain Favorite Book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Favorite TV Show: Monk

Great week, Quinn! You know a book is good when you’re reading it at work 🙂 I’ve been curious about Drama, and want to check out more graphic novels. I was so excited to see On the Fence pop up on EW too! Glad you’re enjoying Cress. That cover is gorgeous.

Have fun setting up your Filofax. It feels good to be organized, not that I would know, lol.

  2. Angie says:

WHAT! NO!! I bought that Harry Potter book full price. Lucky you!! It is an amazing book. Drama looks good to me. I read a lot of graphic novels and haven’t read that one yet!!

Amazing haul Quinn. I’m so jealous (but happy for you) about On The Fence! I hope you love it! I really liked Cress, glad you’re loving it so far.

  4. I’ve got the Harry Potter Page to Screen book and it is brilliant! I had to wait ages for it to come down in price but it was worth the wait. I’m hoping somebody does something similar for Lord of the Rings. Hope you enjoy it!

  5. What? You got the Harry Potter page to screen book for only $20? Lucky you! I can’t wait to get my hands on it as well! I can tell its brilliant! And I see Cress on almost everyone’s STS this week. Have yet to read it myself. Great haul and hope you enjoy 🙂

Whoa, I’d take advantage of being auto-approved by Harper Teen too – they’ve put out some fantastic YA/NA in the last while. Looks like a great haul – I keep eyeing Cinder, to get started on the series. I love the covers for the whole set!

  7. Jackie says:

What a great haul! I also got “Be With Me” I’m so excited to start it! And Cress – GUSH! AH! I just started and I’m about 60 pages in and already can’t get enough! Hope you’re enjoying all your books! Happy Reading 🙂

  8. Nice. I have a problem with Edelweiss & NG, but you got some great looking titles. Come visit me too.

  9. I got Cress this week too and just started it this morning. I was reading Romancing the Duke so Cress had it wait a bit. I think the Cinder cover is still my favorite, but I think this one is a close second. I’ve never heard of that graphic novelist before so I’ll check her out. Happy reading!

  10. I have the first book in Jennifer L Armentrout’s series, but still haven’t gotten to it yet. I’ve heard it’s fantastic though! And On the Fence looks so good! I hope you enjoy all you got 🙂

    Here’s my STS!

  11. Elizabeth says:

Drama and Smile are both so cute! They were my cousin’s FAVOURITE books when she was 10. She’s 12 now and has moved on a bit, but she still loves them

For me, the week felt short because we had a snow day on Wednesday.

  14. I got Cress and On the Fence too. I will be borrowing Be With Me from my SNL. Hope you have a great week!

  19. Great haul! I want that Harry Potter book so bad, but it’s just so expensive over here. I hope you enjoy all of your books 🙂 My STS.

  20. 1. DRAMA = big yes. I loved this. 2. YES LAST WEEK FELT SO LONG. I hope this week doesn’t do the same thing.

  21. Isn’t if funny how we have a picture of the peoples in the book in our head, and than the cover picture does not match that at all. Can’t think of an example, but I;m sure this has happened to me as well. Enjoy the Filofax 🙂

  22. Candice says:

Hooray Cress! I just finished it last night and have no clue how to review it! Good luck with the organizing; give me some pointers if you get yourself organized! 🙂
