Friend Me Friday: Disney Love

Friend-Me-Friday

*Friend Me Friday is a new feature I’m starting on my blog.  Every Friday I’m going to share something about myself.  These posts most likely won’t be book related.  The main reason I started blogging was because I wanted to make friends, but sometimes I worry that my personality isn’t shining through my reviews.  I want to share a little bit about myself, so you all can get to know me better.  And, hopefully, I’ll get to know you a little better by the comments I hope you leave*

I love Disney.

Seriously, L-O-V-E – love.  I saw Frozen this weekend, and it reminded me how much I love Disney movies.  Well, not all, of course.  But some of my favorite movies are Disney.  I don’t mean my favorite animated movies – I mean some of my all-time favorites are Disney.

I was luckily enough to have grown up during the Disney Renaissanse, when Disney released The Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King.  Talk about influential, right?  The first three of these movies all have some of my absolute favorite things: musicals, princesses, fairy tales, and happily ever afters.  I’ll be honest, The Lion King isn’t a favorite.  I mean, I like it, of course, but it’s not a favorite.  But Mermaid, Beauty and Aladdin – it’s a very close call on which one is my favorite.  But of course, I do have a favorite, and that’s Beauty and the Beast.

belle books

I know, shocking coming from a book-obsessed person.  Belle is so easy to identify with – she’s kind, and willing to look beyond appearances.  She also wants adventure, and knows how amazing stories can be.  What’s not to love about Belle, right?  And Beast is a very intriguing characters – also his voice is very attractive.

So, what’s your favorite Disney movie?  I loved Frozen, but it couldn’t quite break into my top three (Mermaid, Beauty, and Aladdin).  If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.  The animation is beautiful, the music is great, and the story has so much heart.  Also, yay for strong female characters!

  1. Ahh Disney!! So much love, I have all the songs on my iPod and regularly listen to them. But I was never much of a Belle fan, I much preferred Ariel but I think that’s because she’s a red head and so I thought she could be me (I’m a red head).

  2. I love Disney, too. And I can understand them being your favourite movie/s (and not just the animated favourites) because it’s the same way with me. Although I The Lion King is my favourite of all time, and makes it into my top five favourite movies, ever.
I was so excited when they brought back Disney movies to my local cinemas! I got to see The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast (my second favourite Disney movie), Dumbo, Lady & the Tramp, And The Fox and the Hound (one of my all time favourites). They also had some others, but they were on during my exams, so I wasn’t able to go 😦
I’m so glad to hear that Frozen is good – I cannot wait until it comes out here!
Did you like Tangled? It’s one of my favourites, even though it’s a new one.

Hands down The Little Mermaid! This is really the first movie I remember going to see at the theater and my best friend Margaret and I drew Ariel constantly for months afterwards! I feel totally blessed to have grown up during the Disney Renaissance (love that!)! I really love Disney’s non-animated movies too. Older ones, not newer ones. Mary Poppins, Escape to Witch Mountain, Candleshoe… I grew up loving these movies!

Ha, The Little Mermaid was the first movie I remember seeing in the theater, too. It used to be my favorite for most of my life, but the last five years or so my love has grown for BatB.

Ooo, I do love Mary Poppins. I’ve never seen Candelshoe. I’ll have to look into it.

  4. Love Disney too! The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and Beauty & the Beast are my top three though I enjoy most of them. I haven’t seen Frozen yet, but I plan to soon. Happy Friday!

I am an odd bird, so my favorites are actually The Sword in the Stone (I adore Merlin, haha) and Robin Hood. I do LOVE Beauty and the Beast – it’s my favorite princess film – but there’s just something about the other two that makes me smile like a loon whenever I think about them. 🙂

  6. I love Disney too. My top two are Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Fox and the Hound is is a pretty close third though, but it makes me cry every single time.

  7. I’m so glad you loved Frozen too. It didn’t compare to those classics for me either but I’m pretty sure I liked it more than Tangled, and almost the same as Princess and the Frog. I’m going to see it again tomorrow just to be sure 😉 Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Love Disney soooo much! As you probably know.. I am half way through Project Disney on my blog. Last week I just covered Frozen. I love it sooooo much. I can’t wait to own it.

My favourite is probably Tangled, I’ve watched it almost four times *hides away in shame*

  10. I would say Little Mermaid. But I’m going to see Frozen this weekend!

  11. I love, love, love, love, love Disney with a huge passion 🙂 Those movies ALWAYS make me happy and help brighten my day. Beauty and the beast is by far my favorite one. The message, Belle, I love it all. The songs in Aladdin are one of the best! I’m so excited to see Frozen.

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
