Book Haul #22

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews.  The Sunday Post is a weekly event hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week as well as other interesting book news.

So I haven’t picked up any new physical copies of books this week, so I thought I would share some new books I was approved for from Netgalley.

Netgalley:

Crash Into You by Katie McGarry
I’m not at all excited about this one.  LIE!  I am so excited.  I can’t wait to start it.

Pushed by Corrine Jackson
This is the sequel to Touched, which I LOVED.  I cannot wait to see what Remy and Asher are up to now.  I hate this cover, though!

Notable by Marni Bates
I just finished this one.  Marni Bates is a pretty fun, easy writer.

The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I was actually approved for this a month or so ago.  I’ve never read anything by Barnes and am excited to try this.

Life Tidbits

  • This was kind of the week from Hell.  Monday I cut my finger pretty badly, Tuesday Monk was removed from Netflix Instant (This is totally a let down!!), Wednesday I got a flat tire by running over a nail and had to get a whole new tire, Thursday I started getting a cold.  Nothing bad has happened on Friday.  Thank goodness, right?
  • I’m so glad that I subscribed to Audible.  I’ve already started my second book, I Hunt Killers, and I’m loving it.  Audible is so easy to use, and I can get access to audiobooks my library system doesn’t have.  I still LOVE my library, though.
  • I’ve been craving chips and salsa this week.  Yumm!

  1. I keep looking at audible but it just seems expensive. It sucks your week was bad. You can get Monk on Hulu for 7.99 a month (plus lots of other shows). Happy reading!

  2. I didn’t know Crash Into You was available on netgallery..ahhh I MUST HAVES IT NOW!!

  3. I just received Crash Into You and also have The Naturals but have not read either yet!

I loved the Naturals, I hope it will be the same for you. Happy reading!

  12. I got Crash Into You as well…and I’ve seen Naturals pop up on a couple lists this week, I’ll have to look into it!

I *love*love*love* Audible! I’ve gotten so much more “reading” done since subscribing – and there are so many great books! Your library might offer Overdrive so you can get some audio and ebooks and still support your library! I totally take advantage of it! 🙂

    • Quinn says:

I’m glad you love Audible, too. My library does off Overdrive, but even then, it doesn’t always have the audiobook I want. I do support my library though. I’m actually a public librarian, so I’m kind of a bigger library advocate. 🙂 Audible is more of a supplement, when my library doesn’t have something I want. If the library does, I will, of course, borrow it.

  13. I got approved of Crash Into You this morning and literally flipped out. I can’t wait to read it! I hope you enjoy all you got 🙂

I’m not big fan of audiobooks, but they are perfect for long bus rides.

I’ve only read Decked with Holly by Marni Bates but I really liked it so I’m looking forward to reading her other books. I’ve only read Pushing the Limits so far, but the anticipation for Crash Into You is sort of infectious. I hope you enjoy it and your other books 😀

  18. Eirene says:

Hope you have a better week! 🙂 Crash Into You sounds like a great book, hope you enjoy it!

I hope this week is better for you. I didn’t have a brilliant one either as I got sick 😦 IAt least it was cheaper than having to buy a new tyre. Here’s my Sunday Post

  21. gaele says:

I love using audible – I’m in the middle of a couple of different books there now – neither are intentional review titles, but probably will get it eventually. Nice haul there – I hope you have a far better week this one!
    ~gaele @ I am, indeed

  22. I haven’t gotten into Netgalley….I think I should stay away! lol

Hope you enjoy all of your books…to somehow make up for the horrific week you had. Some weeks are like that, unfortunately….enjoy your new one.

    Here’s MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES

  23. I like Audible though I use it for books I’m given for reviews and I get the 1 book per month since $7.49 is a decent price for an audiobook. I just downloaded the Overdrive app for my Fire, but haven’t had a chance to check anything out from my library yet to see how it goes.

  24. Oh jeez, I hope next week is better for you. You did get some great books though. Happy reading.

I got Crash into You this week as well. I hope this week is a lot better! Happy reading.

  26. I got approved for Crash Into You today. I was so excited! Especially since it’s Sunday, and I don’t expect approvals on a Sunday! 🙂

Sorry to hear you’ve had a crappy week, but at least nothing bad has happened in several days – that’s something to be happy about! 🙂

You asked on my blog about the Amazon UK shipping cost of that Harry Potter UK set to the U.S. – it was only $7. I couldn’t believe how cheap it was. On a related note, I just purchased the new UK Hunger Games paperbacks from Amazon UK, and THAT shipping cost was $12. Strange, since obviously those three PB’s weigh a lot less than the HP hardcovers. But it’s OK – I can’t wait to get my hands on them!

  27. I got Crash Into You this week too and I am so excited!! I’ll have to look at Notable because I’ve heard great things about Marni Bates. Audible is amazing, isn’t it? Happy reading!

  28. Kelly L. says:

Yes yes yes to Crash Into You! I am so excited for it! ❤
As for the cover of Pushed, I agree. It's…just not my thing. Plus, it doesn't match the cover of Touched.
Enjoy all your lovely books & thanks for stopping by my STS! (:

  29. I feel so bad for your ‘bad’ week, I hope this one a lot better 🙂 I also have audible and I love it! I have Crash Into You and The Naturals as well,

    Thanks for stopping by!

  30. The Naturals is one I got from Netgalley too. I hope it is a good one! Happy Reading!
Here are my newest additions .

  31. Charlotte says:

Aha! A lot of bloggers got Crash Into You this week. I’ve just put in a request in NG but not so sure if HQ will approve it. Oh well, let’s wait and see.

    Have fun reading it, Quinn.

Thanks for stopping by Thoughts and Pens!
