Top Ten Books on My Fall 2013 TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish.

toptentuesday

I’m pretty bad at actually reading all the books I put on a TBR list.  I’m such a mood reader, and my mood changes so frequently, that so books always end up unread for the season.  But, as of right now, here are the books at the top of my fall TBR list.

In no particular order . . .

Books Releasing This Fall:

1.  Crash Into You by Katie McGarry.
Isaiah’s story!!!

2.  Pushed by Corrine Jackson
I LOVED Touched by Jackson, the first one in this series.  I’ve been waiting a long time to get my hands on Pushed.

3.  Notable by Marni Bates
Her books are just so much fun.  I’ve read and reviewed all her books on my blog, and I’m excited to see what she does with this one.

4.  Through the Zombie Glass by Gena Showalter
Alice in Zombieland was a lot of fun, and I definitely want to know what’s going to happen next with Alice and Cole.

Books That I’ve Been Meaning to Read FOREVER:

1.  Body and Soul by Stacey Kade
And then I will have finished the series!  Plus, this series is super fun, and I own this book.

2.  The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle
I picked up this book last fall, but never read it.  It seems like the perfect fall read.

3.  The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg
I bought this last year at the Penguin Warehouse sale . . . and it’s been collecting dust on my bookshelf ever since.  A teen at the library recently told me I had to read it, so I’m making and effort to get to it in the next month or so.

4.  Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride.
I’ve checked this book out from the library numerous times, but always end up returning it unread.  My plan this go around, though, is to listen to the audio!  Yay for plans!

5.  Emma by Jane Austen
Okay, so I actually started listening to this audiobook Monday, and it isn’t technically fall yet, but since most of the book I will be reading in the fall, I’m counting this.  I’ve wanted to read this book forever, and I’m determined that this is the year!

6.  Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger
I bought this book back when it was released, but never read it.  I really hate when I do that. With the second book coming out in November, I need to read this.

  1. To be honest I don’t recognize a single one of these except for Emma! Except that one I really loved so I highly recommend it! It’s got that intelligence of Pride and Prejudice, but Emma is a really snarky and meddling character – a lot of entertainment for sure!

  2. Crash Into You is one of the best books ever!!! Oh my gosh, you will die!!!!

  3. Aidan Brack says:

Some interesting choices there – particularly looking forward to reading your thoughts on Etiquette and Espionage and Hold Me Closer if and when you read them! 🙂

  4. ChrissiReads says:

I can’t wait to read Crash Into You. It looks SO good.

  5. I need to read Etiquette as well…I got it when it released too. I’m really curious about The Hallowed Ones, I’ve seen some great reviews for it.

  6. Michelle says:

I hope you read the final Ghost and the Goth book soon!! I loved that series and I miss it!! I can’t believe I forgot to put Crash Into You on my list this week!!! I loved PTL and liked Dare You Too (although not as much) and can’t wait to see what Isaiah’s story is all about. Also all the Marni Bates books look good. I have Awkward… just need to read it!

    • Quinn says:

So glad to hear you liked Body & Soul! I liked Pushing the Limits more than Dare You To, as well. Although I DID love DYT. Marni Bates is a super fun writer. Awkward is my favorite. It’s so funny.

  7. Lucy says:

Nice list! Crash Into You and Notable look so good, and I’ve also been meaning Etiquette, Hallowed Ones, and Necromancer for forever. Happy fall reading 🙂

  8. Lisa says:

I just read Pushing the Limits recently and liked it. I feel like maybe I’ll read Dare You To and Crash Into You in one shot. I’ve been hearing really good things about Crash Into You already.

I quite enjoyed The Catastrophic History of You and Me and Etiquette & Espionage. I was sort of apathetic about E&E while I was reading it, but afterward I kept thinking about it and wanting more of the story. I’m way excited for the next one to come out.

    • Quinn says:

I’m really excited to read Catastrophic. I think I might read it after I finish the book I’m reading right now.

That’s happened to me before, too, where I read a book and think it’s okay. But then the more I think about it afterwards the more I like it.

  9. I’ve wanted to read Stacey Kade’s series for so long! It’s awesome that you enjoyed the rest of the books so much. That makes me want to give it a shot, and soon. 🙂

    New follower!

  10. Lauren says:

I’ve been reading Carriger’s The Parasol Protectorate but have yet to get to her YA series. Hope you enjoy!

    Lauren @ The Hottie Harem

  11. Vilia says:

Emma is a great read even though she is fairly self-absorbed and unthinkingly cruel for the first half of the book. Maybe you could pair it with the movie Clueless which is based on it if you wanted to see a modern adaptation?? Here’s my TTT
    Vilia @ Backchatting Books

    • Quinn says:

Clueless is awesome! I was in grade school when it was released, and went to see it in the theater. Such a fun movie. I’m just at the beginning of Emma right now (I’m listening to it via audiobook) and you are right, Emma is a bit self-absorbed. But I do like her.

  12. emziixgx says:

I had forgotten Through The Zombie Glass was out this month! can’t wait

  13. Ciara_H says:

I loved Emma so I hope you enjoy it. Great list!

  14. Andi ABCs says:

I love The Catastrophic History of You and Me. Really enjoyed it. And I just added Alice in Zombieland to my TBR list.

    My TTT List

  15. Christina says:

Ohhh..Crash Into You–I forgot about that one. I’m definitely looking forward to his story. I have been meaning to read Etiquette and Espionage…I’ll keep my eye out for your review and Emma is amazing. I love Austen!! Great list!

  16. Yes to Crash Into You & I just recently read The Hallowed Ones and it. Was. Awesome! Never thought I’d ever like or read an Amish novel. The fact that it has vampires makes all the difference. E&E is cute, it’s a little light on the Steampunk but the heroine is so spirited!

    My Top 10 TBR

  17. Oh nice list! 🙂 TCHOYAM is good!

  18. I’m also excited for Notable. 🙂 Marni’s books are so cute! Thanks for visiting my TTT!

  19. Awww, I love Emma! Great choice. And I can’t wait to read Crash Into You. Hold Me Closer, is SO underrated. I think everyone should read it – it is so much fun. And I might have cried during the tCHoYaM. Really great book.
    Enjoy your reading!

  20. Heyyyyyy- We’ve got one book on our lists that is the same! I am pretty excited for it. I have never read a Jane Austen novel and I keep saying I need to change that, and I will someday. I hope you enjoy Emma.

    Good luck with your TBR,

    ~Sara @ Just Another Story

  21. I’m really bad at reading TBR books too. Something else always comes along and distracts me. I saw Notable somewhere (NetGalley?) recently. I’m going to have to start at the beginning of the series though.

  22. I’m excited about Crash Into You as well! So excited to see Isaiah get his HEA. I really liked Emma so I hope you do too…Jane Austen in audio is one of my favorite things! I haven’t read Etiquette and Espionage either, but I’ve read and recommend her adult steampunk series (Parasol Protectorate). Fabulous list!

    • Quinn says:

I’ve heard such good things about The Parasol Protectorate. I need to look into them. I’m enjoying Emma on Audio for sure!!! And Crash into You. I want Isaiah to have his HEA, too. Especially after everything that happened with Beth.

  23. Liesel Hill says:

Great list. I’d really like to read Crash Into You, but not sure when I’ll get around to it. 😀 How do they expect us to keep fall reading lists to only ten?

BTW, I’m having a virtual launch party for the release of new book Quantum Entanglement on the Interchron Series FB page today (www.facebook.com/interchronseries). It will be going on between 2pm and 7pm MST. There will be fun pics, goofy quizzes, and lots of prizes. So if you have the time, stop by. You might win a free copy of the book or an Amazon Giftcard!

  24. Yes, The hallowed ones and Etiquette & Espionage are two books I’ve been meaning to read for a long time now. I hope to achieve it somewhere this year :p

    Mel@thedailyprophecy.

  25. I can’t wait to read Katie McGarry’s next book! I own Hold Me Closer, Necromancer (which might be one of the best titles ever), but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet.

    Stephanie @ Inspiring Insomnia

  26. Crash into you..totally jazzed for it!

  27. ablightedone says:

I need to read Alice in Zombieland! I actually read the first two books of The Ghost and the Goth and never read the last one, I need to do that! Catostrophic History looks interesting and I’ve been eyeing The Hallowed Ones after reading some good reviews! Great list!

  28. SO SO excited for Crash Into You! I want to reread Emma too in preparation for Emma Approved! 🙂

Great list & good luck on all your reading! Thanks for stopping by my list earlier!

  29. Jaime says:

Really good list, I divided mine the same way. Trying to find a balance between the backlist and newer releases :). I enjoyed Etiquette & Espionage, it was a lot of fun.

  30. Enjoy Emma – it’s a wonderful book! 😀

  31. I can’t wait for Crash into You either!

And Emma is good. I had to read it for school and it was one of the few required reading books that I enjoyed!

  32. Hannah says:

I just read Pushing the Limits / Dare You To last week, and now I’m DYING to read Crash Into You. GIVE IT TO ME NOW! Haha! Also, I’m so happy to see Emma on your list. Love me some Austen 🙂 Also, I often buy stuff when it’s released and then just let it sit on my TBR. Hate when I do it, too!

  33. elena says:

Oh gosh, I seriously need to read Emma! I have a copy and have been meaning to read it for ages.

  34. I’ve never read any of these but I hope you enjoy them all. Happy reading!
