Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews. The Sunday Post is a weekly event hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week as well as other interesting book news.
Holy cow, you guys, I picked up so many books this week. In anticipation of Bout of Books (which I still need to sign up for) and, after that, my ten-day staycation, I went on a placing-holds spree, and lots have come in.
From the Library:
Emma by Jane Austen
So I thought since the creators of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries will be doing Emma next this would be the perfect time for me to actually read the book! I thought I would try the audiobook.
The Last Echo by Kimberly Derting
I loved The Body Finder, but I haven’t read the rest of the series. I put the whole set on hold, but this one is the only one in so far.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
So many people rave about this book, and the series. And with the trailer released . . . well, I thought I would give this a try.
Navigating Early by Clare Vanderpool
This is a middle-grade book. I loved Vanderpool’s Moon Over Manifest, and this one has been on my TBR list since before it’s release. Hopefully I get to it in the next few weeks.
Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
Another one that’s been on my TBR list for age. I’ve heard good things.
- I know I keep talking about my upcoming staycation, but I’m just so excited. I haven’t had a full week off in a year, and I am so needing some non-work time.
- My dogs went to the vets this week. Daphne is in good health, and has gained half a pound. She weighs 11 pounds and13 oz. Ginger has lost a pound (she now weights 18 points) but I think she might have a urinary infection. Poor baby.
- The weather in Syracuse has been gorgeous all week! Who else has been having wonderful weather lately?
- I watched Jack the Giant Slayer on Thursday. It was surprisingly good, you guys. It was way better than Snow White and the Huntsman.
