You guys, April from Good Books and Good Wine came up with the best Blogging Challenge! And I’m totally participating because it is the best idea ever! Anyway, she came up with 15 challenges (one a day). You should totally participate, too! Here’s the cool graphic and challenges April put together.
It’s Day 13 and today I’m talking about unappreciated books.
Okay, so I’m not really a fan of people being forced to read a specific book. It’s hard to love a book when you are required to read that book. Come on, we all remember what it felt like in high school and college. So I’m not going to pick a book that everyone should read, because I don’t really want to force anyone to read a book. I’m also not going to include those books that we all have to read in high school (for example: To Kill a Mockingbird) because we’re talking books that are underappreciated. I’m also cheating because I’m going to talk about more than one book. Sorry, I just couldn’t pick one!
Charles and Emma: The Darwins’ Leap of Faith by Deborah Heiligman
This is a YA biography about the Darwins. The reason why I think it would be great for people to read is because it’s about Charles Darwin and his extremely religious wife, Emma. Even though they have such different beliefs, they still respected each other’s opinions and loved each other deeply. Plus, it’s a damn good story!
The other book I encourage everyone to read is . . .
Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale
I think this is the Shannon Hale book that is talked about the least, and it’s my favorite. I love this story so much, and Dashti is the most amazing main character. She’s sweet and gentle, but also practical and willing to do what’s difficult. She’s always willing to help anyone she can, and is able to forgive people easily. Not that she is perfect or annoyingly good, though. She’s has a lot of depth. Here’s my review.
Have you read these books? And if not, I recommend that you do! 🙂
