15 Day Book Blogging Challenge: Day 10

You guys, April from Good Books and Good Wine came up with the best Blogging Challenge!  And I’m totally participating because it is the best idea ever!  Anyway, she came up with 15 challenges (one a day).  You should totally participate, too!  Here’s the cool graphic and challenges April put together.

15-Day-Challenge

It’s Day 10 and today I’m talking about how I decide what to read next.

I’m a huge mood reader, and my reading mood changes regularly and frequently.  I’m never exactly sure what I will want to read next, so I always have a decent selection of books to choose from.  My selection of books include ebooks, physical copies I own, and library books and audiobooks.

So when it comes to picking out my next book, I first figure out what mood I’m in.  Do I want something lighter, do I want a fantasy, do I want a middle-grade book.  I also take into account if I need to read any books that were either sent to me, or are from Netgalley.  And then I look through what books I’ve got sitting around.  I do try to switch things up a bit – not reading the same genre of book over and over.  For example, I’ve been reading a lot of lighter romances this summer, so I decided to read a middle-grade novel (Wednesdays in the Tower) to switch things up.

But even with all these thoughts running through my head, who knows what I will settle on next.  That’s what it’s like being a mood reader.

I think it’s good to switch things up! For example, I do like Sarah Dessen but reading her books one after the other kind of made me tired of it. It’s great to shake it up sometimes. 🙂

  2. I like the lighter books in the summer as well..was given a book recently and I thought of you..it’s called Mr. Darcy Goes Overboard..have you read it? I also saw this and thought you would love it…http://www.bingleysteas.com/jane-austen-tea-series/pride-and-prejudice-anniversary-notions-sampler

That’s how I am too! I’ll try to plan ahead, but I always end up switching things!

  4. I am a HUGE mood reader as well, and not even just genre wise. If a book blurb catches my attention but I’m supposed to be reading an ARC or such I WILL stop read that ARC for the other book. I just have to read what I want at that moment, can’t make myself read something else just cause I have to.

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
