Stacking the Shelves

Sunday Posst

I definitely brought home some totally amazing books this week.

Book Haul 3

First up, four books I bought at the Rochester Teen Book Festival:

Pilgrims Don’t Wear Pink by Stephanie Kate Strohm
Strohm was super funny at the festival, so I thought I would try her book out.  It looks super cute and perfect for summer.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
I’ve already read this one one, of course, but Smith was at the festival and I wanted to pick up a book for her to sign.  I’m very glad that I have this in my collection now.

The Karma Club by Jessica Brody
Brody was very funny and entertaining at the festival.  She said that she ended up loving to read while in college when her friend gave her Bridget Jones’s Diary to read while she exercised.  I had to pick something up of hers, and decided to go with this one.  This one also looks like a great summer read.

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers
Everyone has been raving about this book, and hopefully now that I have a signed copy I will actually get around to reading it 🙂

From the Library:

The Mighty Queens of Freeville by Amy Dickinson
Dickinson spoke at a conference I recently attended, and she had some very interesting things to say.  So I’m going to try out her memoir.

Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham
Because it’s Lauren Freaking Graham!!!!

Life Tidbits

  • My Internet is not working very well right now, and it is frustrating me!  All I want to do is watch Monk from Netflix Streaming, but it keeps pausing.  Grr!!!
  • I’m very excited for the three day weekend.  I don’t have too much planned, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
  • It was so cold here on Friday.  The high was 52 degrees.  And this is after we had 80 degree weather at the beginning of the week.  But it warms up some by the end of the weekend.
  • I’m loving that SYTYCD is back on.  It’s one of my favorite shows, ever.
  • Speaking of TV Shows, on youtube I discovered the New Zealand show The Secret Lives of Dancers.  It’s a reality show following the Royal New Zealand Ballet company.  And you’ll never guess to shows up for season 2!!  Hint: he’s a famous American ballet dancer who was in Center Stage!!!

  3. I lOVED First Sight, (there’s no way i’m typing the whole title!) 🙂 I hate it when the internet is slow! We just changed our provider and everything is back to normal. I can now spend hours watching videos on Youtube and generally procrastionating!

I know, First Sight’s title is insanely long!! I loved it, too, though.

Thank goodness my Internet is back to it’s normal quick self. I was ready to tear my hair out yesterday.

  4. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight is cute, plus signed books are the best. 🙂
I adore SYTYCD but alas being in the UK means watching stuff on YouTube for the most part. I bet it’s brilliant again.

  5. Great books. I loved The Statistical probability of love at first sight. Happy reading!

I wish it were cold here! I live in Central Florida and this is the time of the year I start to dread because it is so hot and humid.

I really want to read Lauren Graham’s book. It sounds like it would be good and generally really like her. Hope you enjoy it!

    • Quinn says:

Oh man, I bet it’s crazy hot and humid in Florida right now. I could never live there, although I love visiting!!

I really like Lauren Graham, too, so I can’t wait to try out her book.

  8. Christina says:

Awesome books….I have been dying to read Grave Mercy…hopefully I can this summer. I also want to read Statistical Probability –that’s awesome you have a signed copy. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Lauren Graham’s book. Enjoy your holiday weekend! (Even if the weather is cold–it’s cold here in PA too, but I hear later this week it’s going to be hot.)

    • Quinn says:

I’ve been meaning to read Grave Mercy, too! I need to get to it. Ooo, Statistical Probability is soo good. I highly recommend it. And I definitely hope the weather warms up a bit for both of us 🙂

  9. Lisa says:

I definitely want to read The Karma Club. I’ve read two other books by Brody and loved them, so I feel like she’s becoming an auto buy author for me. I’ve been seeing Someday, Someday, Maybe all over the place. I wasn’t too interested at first, but there’s been so much hype. I might have to read it.

    • Lisa says:

By the way, I will TOTALLY take that cold weather from you if you don’t want it. (:

      • Quinn says:

Hahaha. Maybe we could split the difference? I take some of the heat where you are, and you take some of the cold where I am. If only 🙂

I haven’t read anything by Jessica Brody, but I’m really excited to try out her books.

  10. Great haul! I really enjoyed Someday, Someday, Maybe. I’ve been meaning to read Grave Mercy. I’ve heard so many good things. It was so cold here yesterday, too, after being downright hot earlier in the week (I’m in the Northeast). I just want Spring! In the 70s, no humidity–is that too much to ask! Enjoy the 3 day weekend!

Every review I’ve seen so far is a good one 🙂 Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers – I have an ecopy, but I probably won’t get to it so I should somehow sneak myself a physical copy so that it’ll watch me at all times and maybe I’d get tempted to pick it up lol.
