Top Ten Authors That I’d Put On My Auto-Buy List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish.  Okay, so I don’t really have many authors that are on my auto-buy list.  Since I work in a library, I get the most of my books from the library.  So my list is going to be a combination of auto-buy and auto-read.  By auto-read, I mean books by an author that I automatically put on hold basically without paying attention to the summary.

In no particular order . . .

1.  Jennifer L. Armentrout.  Yeah, I pretty much buy any of her YA books.  Well, actually, I haven’t read her Covenant series yet, but I’ve read all the Lux series and Cursed.  And I can’t wait to read her New Adult book, Wait for You.

2.  Alan Bradley.  I just love his Flavia de Luce books.  I put the new book on hold automatically.  I don’t even read the summary beforehand.

3.  Meg Cabot.  Duh!

4.  Stephanie Perkins.  Seriously, I cannot wait to read Isla and the Happily Ever After!!

5.  Marni Bates.  She is such a fun writer.  I love how funny her books are.

6.  Cassandra Clare.  Yeah, I’m sure that one is a shocker.  🙂

7.  Jessica Day George.  I haven’t read all her books, but any new releases I always can’t wait to read.

8.  Carl Hiaasen.  Seriously, I love his MG novels.  Hoot and Chomp are my favorites.

9.  Steve Sheinkin.  I read The Notorious Benedict Arnold a little over a year ago, and let me tell you, I was seriously impressed.  And now with his newest NF, Bomb, winning all sorts of awards!  Yeah, he is totally awesome.

10. Marissa Meyer.  Dude, the only science fiction books I have ever liked.  Not only liked, but loved!  I think Marissa Meyer is very talented.  She tells a story so well.

I also have Stephanie Perkins on my list too — can’t wait for Isla either! I forgot about Cassandra Clare. I love her books! I need to get caught up on the Mortal Instruments series though. Great list, Quinn!

  10. Katie B says:

Great list! I have read almost all of the authors you mentioned and I definitely agree with Meg Cabot, Jennifer Armentrout, and Marissa Meyer.

  11. stuckinva says:

Meg Cabot’s on my list, as well. LOVE most of her stuff (there was a period of time during the princess diaries where I sort of wanted to break up with her)! And Hiasson, LOVE his stuff. I haven’t read any of his YA books, though, something I really need to fix!

  12. Michael says:

Awesome list. I completely agree with Cinder. I really need to get reading City of Bones, especially with the movie coming out soon. Thanks for sharing. Visit my list here: http://thebookshelfreview.blogspot.com/2013/02/top-ten-tuesday-authors-whose-books-i.html

  13. Candice says:

Love Marni Bates! I still want to read Decked with Holly. Haven’t read many of the other authors on your list, but the ones I have I totally love!

  14. Stephanie Perkins and Cassandra Clare both made my list too! I love their books and I’m always looking forward to their new ones. I haven’t had the chance to read any of the one authors you’ve listed, but I really want to read Marissa Meyer and Jessica Day George!

    • Quinn says:

Definitely check out Marissa Meyer. I think you will love Cinder and Scarlet. And if you love fairytale retellings, do not pass by JDG!

    • Quinn says:

Definitely look into Marissa Meyer. I mean she totally deserves all the hype she gets for Cinder and Scarlet. I don’t even like science fiction, but I love her books!

I also love JDG. My favorite is Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow.

  15. Katie says:

I really like your list! I almost included Stephanie Perkins and Jessica Day George on mine, too. It was very hard to choose only ten this week!
If you have a chance, check out my Top Ten Tuesday and let me know what you think!

  16. Love Marissa Meyer and Meg Cabot!

  17. Isa says:

I’m excited for Isla and the Happily Ever After and Jennifer L. Armentrout’s books are so addicting. Although I love The Infernal Devices series I am shying away from her Mortal Instruments series though I did skim the series for Magnus Bane moments. xD

    • Quinn says:

JLA’s book are ridiculously addicting! I actually prefer The Mortal Instruments to Infernal Devices. But I think that is because I really don’t like love triangles, and it is such a huge part in ID.

  18. Ashling says:

I love Marissa Meyer and Jessica Day George too. I’m getting Scarlet in the mail tomorrow, and I’m so psyched. I haven’t read any of Armentrout’s books yet, but they’re on my TBR list.

Thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier!

  19. Kristy F says:

I love your list! We have Stephanie Perkins in common! I totally forgot to add Meg Cabot to mine though! I’ve yet to read Cinder and Obsidian, but I can’t wait to!

    • Quinn says:

I forgot about some authors too, Katie McGarry and JK Rowling!!

You should definitely read Cinder. And if you like books like paranormal romance then Obsidian is definitely for you.

  20. Shelver506 says:

Alan Bradley, FTW! I adore dear Flavia. Is his latest book the Christmas book, or is there one after that?

    • Quinn says:

He just released another Flavia book – Speaking From Among the Bones – can’t wait to read it! I’m a bit worried about Gladys. On the cover she isn’t looking too well.

  21. Sheri says:

Jennifer L Armentrout is my absolute favorite author. In my opinion she could walk on water! (Yeah…I’m just a bit of a fan girl lol!) But I’ve only heard about 2 of the others on your list so I’m going to have to look into the others. I’m always looking for new authors 🙂

  22. How did I forget about Meg Cabot? I have been a fangirl of hers since high school when I discovered the Princess Diaries books. JLA is amazing and I hope you get to read the Covenant series soon. Yeah for libraries!

  23. Eve says:

The only ones I’ve read are Cassandra Clare, Stephanie Perkins and Marissa Meyer. I almost put Cassandra Clare on my list, but the last book (City of Lost Souls) didn’t really live up to my expectations because I’m kind of sick of the whole Sebastian/Original Jonathan thing. But Marissa Meyer and Stephanie Perkins are a definite YES for me – whatever they write, I’ll buy!

  24. Bree says:

Great list! I’ve heard of several of these authors, but haven’t read anything by ANY of them! I guess I’ll need to correct that, lol! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  27. Mitchii says:

I’m happy to see Marissa Meyer and Stephanie Perkins on your list. 🙂 I have Wait for You by JA, saw great press about the book. Will try to read it one of these days. 😉

Thanks for stopping by my blog. ❤

  28. I almost put Jennifer L. Armentrout and Cassandra Clare on my list too! They’re definitely honorable mentions (even though I didn’t actual write that on my post haha). But I’ve read almost all their books and loved them. Great list!

  29. annaglasgow says:

Meg Cabot, of course! I forgot to add her too. Just visited your blog for the first time, I really like it. 🙂

  30. beckireads says:

I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Isla and the Happily Ever After too! Great list. Meg Cabot is sheer awesomeness, I swear.

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
