In My Mailbox #52 / Stacking the Shelves 11

In My Mailbox is a weekly event hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren.  Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week.

Stacking the Shelves

From Walden Pond Press

Heros guide to storming the castle

The Hero’s Guide to Storming the Castle by Christopher Healy
When Walden Pond Press sent me an email asking if I wanted an ARC for review on my blog, I about freaked out.  I loved The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom (my review) so much, and I cannot wait to read its sequel.  I’m trying to hold off until it is closer to the release date, but I’m not sure if I will be able to.  Thanks Walden Pond Press!

From the bookstore:

scarlet meyer

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer.
You guys, it’s signed!  That’s right, I went to a special author event featuring the one and only Marissa Meyer!  It was great, which is good because it was a three hour drive to get there.  But so worth it.  🙂

let it snow

Let it Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle
So I went to B&N looking for some cute cards, and left with this.  Seriously, no will power.

From the library:

audrey wait

Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway
After reading, and totally loving, Also Known As (my review), I can’t wait to read Benway’s other books.

touch

Touch by Jus Accardo
A teen at the library told me I HAD to read this one.  So I borrowed it from the library.

Definitely a great book week for me!

Life Tidbits

  • It has been such a stressful week at work.  It’s school break week in CNY, so lots of kids coming in and out.  Plus extra programs for said kids.  And I’ve been planning this special book group.  So much work.
  • I’m going to see Beautiful Creatures today (Saturday)!
  • It’s official – I’m going to see Matilda the Musical in  NYC in June!  I am ridiculously excited.  Now I want to re-read the book again.  Here’s a video of the West End cast performing at the 2012 Royal Variety Performance.  If that isn’t the most adorable thing ever, I don’t know what is.

  11. SCARLET! I have that too! Yay! Haven’t read it yet, toying with the idea of re-reading Cinder before Scarlet….hmm!

    • Quinn says:

Being a librarian totally rocks. Of course there are things I don’t love about my job, but for the most part it’s amazing. Glad to meet another library worker!

  14. JoAnne @ The Fairytale Nerd says:

I’m really curious about Let It Snow. I’m a big fan of John Green, but I don’t like short stories…

    Anyhoo, happy reading!

  15. I know ALL about stress this week – it’s been killing me!

  18. Charlotte says:

Very jealous of your signed copy of Scarlet although I haven’t read Cinder yet haha. Happy reading 😀

  19. Yay! I am so pumped you got Audrey, Wait! ALSO! Looking forward to seeing you at the signing next week.

And yeah, for me it’s the opposite, the break means it’s been very quiet at work. Next week is my stressful week.

YAYYYYYYY for more of The Hero’s Guide books! Mine came in on Saturday after I had posted my StS.

    Happy reading, Quinn!

    • Quinn says:

Yay, you got the second Hero’s too! I cannot wait to read that. The first one was one of my favorite reads last year.

I can’t wait for the signing next week either! Hope this coming week isn’t too crazy for you! See you Sunday 🙂

  20. Annette says:

I loved Scarlet. Hope you do do. I’ve always wanted to read Audrey, Wait. I’ve heard good t hings. Thanks for visiting, Enjoy your books!

  21. Kelly says:

I went to a Marissa Meyer signing too for Scarlet! 😀
I just finished Scarlet yesterday, and boy, it’s soo good! 😀
Thanks for stopping by my STS! (:

  22. YAY! For Scarlet and also I am so curious about what you thought of Beautiful Creatures!

    • Quinn says:

Sooo I wasn’t a fan of the movie. Not that I was ever in love with the book, because I wasn’t. But I found the costumes and makeup really distracting. The guy who played Ethan looked adorable with the glasses though! The ending was definitely different than the book.

  23. Oh, I loved Scarlet, Let it Snow and Audrey Wait! Hope you enjoy your new books!

  24. JessDay says:

Scarlet was amazing!! I’m actually reviewing it this week on my blog. Hope you like it because I think it paired right up there with Cinder!

  28. choijeneul says:

Great haul! I have Robin Benway’s The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May, and June but haven’t gotten to it yet; I think I’ll read that before I decide if I’ll give Also Known As a try. And I am envious of Touch! ❤

Thanks for dropping by my StS! 😀

  32. Great haul.

I loved Let It Snow and I’m looking forward to Scarlet.

As for Matilda The Musical, I went to see it in London and I guarantee that you’ll be laughing and crying at the same time. (And this is coming from a man who did just that).

    Enjoy your reads.

You haven’t read Richelle Mead’s books yet?! You need to get on that; she’s one of my favorite authors. But then again, I still need to read Cinder. I’ll start that book soon if you start Vampire Academy. Do we have a deal? Hahaha, happy reading!

    Thanks for visiting my haul.

  35. Thanks for visiting! You’ve gotten me excited for CInder. And hope you enjoy your SIGNED copy of Scarlet. 🙂

  37. Andy says:

I have heard awesome things about Scarlet! Hope you enjoy! Happy Reading!

  38. I am with you on the lack of will power. I often find myself leaving a book store with a stack of books when I went in to purchase one. Being sent a coupon often leads to the same problem but I can certainly convince myself that I am saving money. 🙂

So cool that you were able to attend a signing. I live in Florida and it seems like most of the tours swing through Miami (seven hours from where I live) and that’s it.

  39. Kristin says:

I wish my library had Touch. I’ve been wanting to read it. It sounds interesting.

  40. Ayana says:

Ooh, congrats on the signed copy of Scarlet! I’m always so jealous of you guys in the US who get to have such great author events. All my favourite authors live there and only once in a blue moon do they come to London. Ah well. I haven’t hear of Robin Benway but I’ll check her out. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

    Ayana @ My Book Memoirs

  41. Sheri says:

Both Scarlet and Touch are on my TBR list but now due to your rave about the Hero’s Guide books I’m definitely going to add those as well. They sound great! 🙂 Nice haul you got there 😀 Happy reading!!

  42. Angie F says:

Yay for signed books! I’m waiting for the library to get their copies of Scarlet in! 😛

    Here’s Mine @ Pinkindle Reads & Reviews

  43. Kacii says:

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Yeah, I have mixed thoughts about Robin Hood stories too. My favorite is Robin: Lady of Legend. Robin in the Hood was okay, but I can’t say I liked it all that much.

    Kacii

  44. SO awesome on the signed copy of Scarlet – congrats 😀 I’ll have to check out that ‘Hero’s Guide to Saving your Kingdom’, it’s a new one for me but it looks cool! Thanks for sharing & for stopping by earlier ♥

  45. I watched Beautiful Creatures the first day it was released here in Sydney. It was a great movie, I did enjoy it, wasn’t the best movie but was enjoyable.

I’m also looking forward to reading Scarlet and Let it Snow.

    Here’s my IMM

    Have a great weekend!
