Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish.  I actually had a difficult time with this topic.  I get most of the books I read from the library (I am a librarian, guys :)), and the books I do buy are usually impulse buys, or books that I just cannot wait to read.  So I have a list here, and although I wouldn’t mind finding these under the tree, I am not really dying for any of them.  Besides a lot of these I have already read, and want my own copy.

1.  City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare.  I’ve already read this one.  I own books 1-3 and book 5, so this one would complete my collection.

2.  Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout.  I have already pre-ordered the ebook, but I will definitely want my own copy.  Fav cover!

3.  Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale.  I just read this and absolutely loved it!  It might be my favorite Shannon Hale book, but I’m not sure.  A review will be up sometime soon.

4.  Crash by Nicole Williams.  I’m a bit hesitant to buy this one, and can’t get myself to spend the money.  But if someone gifted it to me, I would be happy.

5.  Body and Soul by Stacey Kade

6.  Queen of the Dead by Stacey Kade.  I really liked the first one in the series (The Ghost and the Goth) and would like to read the following ones.

7.  The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting.  I really enjoyed this book, and would like to add it to my collection.  It is one I would re-read.

8.  Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg.  Of course I’ve read this one.  Totally a book I would re-read.

9.  Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George.  One of my favorite fairytale retellings for sure.

That’s it.  All I could come up with is 9.  Actually . . .

10.  Giftcards to Amazon, Barnes and Nobel, and the independent bookstore in the mall.  This way I can wait until something comes out next year that I cannot wait to read.  🙂

What books would you like to receive this holiday season?

  1. I would be very happy when I find a copy from Sun and moon, Ice and Snow. I still need to read this one, but I loved her other books 🙂

And great job. I don’t participate this week, because it is impossible for me to make a list of only 10 books. I’m a book collector 🙂

I pre-ordered Opal too, otherwise it would definitely be at the top of my list! And my favorite is gift cards too because then I can buy books throughout the year. Great list 🙂

Ooooh great list! I’m super interested in Crash. And I loved The Body Finder!

  4. Christina says:

I would re-read The Body Finder and Prom and Prejudice as well…I enjoyed both! I still have City of Fallen Angels on my shelf- I need to get caught up on this series! Great list!

  5. Liesel Hill says:

Great list! The Lux series made mine too! 😀 My TTTs are at LKHill and Musings on Fantasia. Happy Tuesday! 😀

I totally get where you’re coming from about getting books from the library. I try to read what’s at the library instead of buying every book that I’m interested in. My list is mostly non-fiction books that I would want to have and keep (like cookbooks) and brand-new books that aren’t available at the library yet.

I recently checked The Body Finder out from the library, but haven’t had a chance to really get into it yet. Everyone seems to love it, so I’m hoping I’ll have the time to get to it this weekend! And you can never go wrong with gift cards.. I save up my amazon ones so I can buy one book at a time, which seems to ensure I actually read my purchases instead of putting all my library books to the front of the line!

    • Quinn says:

I really enjoyed The Body Finder. I hope you do too!

I totally know what you mean about buying a whole bunch of books, but pushing them to the side to read library books first. I definitely do the same thing. Good idea to only buy one book at a time. Plus, it makes the gift certificates last longer. 🙂

  8. Lucy says:

I had Opal on my list but took it off because it’s already shipped – yay! And I picked up Crash and just need to make time to read it. Glad to hear you’d re-read Prom & Prejudice…I’m interested in that one too. Bookstore gift cards really are the perfect gift 🙂 Hope you receive everything on your list!

    • Quinn says:

Opal showed up in my Kindle yesterday! Pretty excited about that.

I thought Prom & Prejudice was adorable, but I love Pride and Prejudice retellings. Such a sucker 🙂

  9. Oooh I think Crash looks good as well. Though, I couldn’t bring myself to pick it up out of pocket either. Here’s to hoping Santa brings it so you can indulge in the read 😉

  10. Kar.- says:

Great list! I’ve been meaning to read the Stacey Kade books, but haven’t been able to. Prom and Prejudice sounds really appealing too, I wouldn’t mind Santa bringing me that 🙂
The last one you listed… I’ve never heard about it, but I just fell in love with the cover, so it’s going to my wishlist right away!
Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog 🙂

  11. Oh, man, how did I forget about OPAL! Okay, I’m adding a #11 to my list lol

  12. I also get most of my books from the library, and I’m more than fine with that.
I love how many retellings you have listed! Also I really need to read The Body Finder, I’ve heard good things about it. And I think the Kindle book is on sale this month.

  13. The Body Finder is such a great read!!! And I think I’m going to be adding those Stacey Kade books to my list =D

  14. I really liked The Ghost and the Goth series.
And I could use a few GCs too 🙂 Great idea!

  15. Sandra says:

The Ghost and The Goth series is really good. I want to read Opal too. Crash sounds really interesting. I like your idea of gift cards.

    • Quinn says:

I really enjoyed the first Ghost and the Goth book. I thought Alona was totally awesome as a MC. I loved that she wasn’t whiny, even though she was squashed by a school bus. I definitely need to read the other books.

  16. Nice list! Anything by JLA is definitely a winning choice for me!! Can’t wait to crack open my copy of Obsidian though 😀 Hope you’ll get all these books under the tree this year! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.

  17. Prom & Prejudice is on my list for my Broke & Bookish secret santa person. 🙂 Elizabeth is such a fun writer.

Hope Santa is good to you!

  18. Ruby says:

Amen to the gift cards! There isn’t an independent bookstore, here, though. More’s the pity!

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
