In My Mailbox #38

In My Mailbox is a weekly event hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week.

I got some goodies this week.  From Barnes and Noble I picked up:

Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill
I just finished this one this morning.  Adorable!

From an independent bookstore I bought:

Easy by Tammara Webber
I was so excited to see this on their shelves.  I got the last copy they had!  Unfortunately the back cover is creased a bit, but I don’t mind.

From the library I borrowed

Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale
I have the audiobook, and so far am really enjoying it.  Full Cast Audio really puts together a great production!

That’s it for me.  What goodies did you guys get this week?

Life Tidbits

  • This past week has been crazy.  I did something after work every night, plus Saturday I was really busy too.  It was fun, but I am so glad to be chilling out today.
  • I didn’t see the City of Bones trailer in the previews for Breaking Dawn 😦  But I have watched it a ton online.  It looks awesome, right?
  • I can’t believe Thanksgiving is Thursday!  How is is Thanksgiving time already?
  • Ginger and Daphne went to the groomer’s on Saturday, and they are looking mighty spiffy now.  I actually like when their hair grows back a bit; I like them looking scruffy and not too prissy.  But they are so clean now!
  • My friend Katie said she would go to NYC to see Newsies with me?  I was shocked because I didn’t think she liked musicals, but she said she always wanted to see a broadway show.  We’re planning for either February or March.  I’ve seen Newsies twice, but it isn’t enough.  Besides I need to see how Corey Cott (the new lead) is at playing Jack Kelly.  Jeremy Jordan was pretty kick-ass.  Did you catch the cast of Newsies on DWTS this past Tuesday?  They were fantastic!

I really want to read Book of a Thousand Days! I’m not a fan of full cast productions though. I listened to their production of Princess Academy, and I honestly think I would have enjoyed the book more if I’d read it. That’s just me though, I hope that you enjoy it! I also have Meant to Be on hand and hopefully will be able to get to it before the year is through! Happy reading, Quinn. 🙂

    • Quinn says:

I haven’t listened to Princess Academy, so I can’t comment on that, but I did listen to Full Cast Audio’s production of The Goose Girl and loved it. I think I love it more since I listened to it than if I had read it alone. I do like full cast productions, though. Audiobooks are funny, though, because each listen has their own opinion, and it can differ greatly between one person and the next.

But as to Book of a Thousand Days, so far (I’m not quite half way) most of the story has been told by one person (Dashti) since the book is basically her journal, and they haven’t been around many people. There hasn’t been a lot of dialog, I mean.

Meant to Be is adorable. Seriously. 🙂

  6. I really want to read Meant to Be – I’ve heard great things about it. Glad you enjoyed it!

Yay hope you enjoy Easy! Meant to Be looks adorable, glad you liked it. I didn’t see the City of Bones trailer before BD2 either, but the audience loved the Warm Bodies trailer.
    Have a great Thanksgiving!

    • Quinn says:

Yeah, the audience responded well to Warm Bodies too. It looks interesting.

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Easy, so I’m excited to read it.

      Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

  9. Easy is on my TBR list! I was disappointed not to see the City of Bones before before Breaking Dawn too! I’m not sure how I feel about Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace…but I guess we’ll have to see how it turns out. Happy reading and happy Thanksgiving!

Check out my IMM & SP.

    • Quinn says:

I wasn’t sure about JCB as Jace either, until I saw him in the trailer online. It looks like he is really capturing Jace’s personality. But I guess I’ll know for sure next August.

      Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

  10. Cyn says:

I cannot wait to read Meant to Be!!

And Newsies… Can I come?!?! That is one of my favorite musicals!

  14. Whattt Jeremy Jordan isn’t the lead of Newsies anymore? I has a sad.

ALSO. I need to read Easy and also The Book Of A Thousand Days. Great mailbox.

OH OH and I cannot believe it’s almost Thanksgiving. This year is going by so fast.

    • Quinn says:

Jeremy Jordan left Newsies in early September to act in the TV show Smash. I don’t know why Disney didn’t contract him for a full year. I was so sad when I learned he was leaving. He was an amazing Jack Kelly!

I think Thanksgiving is as early as it ever can be, because the first of November was a Thursday. This year is definitely going by so quickly.

  15. Andrea says:
