In My Mailbox #37

In My Mailbox is a weekly event hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week.

I only picked up two new books this week (both from the library) and that is a good thing after I picked up all those books last week.

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
My first New Adult book.  I just finished it last night.  A review will be up soon.

The Slippery Slope by Lemony Snicket
This came in on hold for me.  It part of my quest to finish A Series of Unfortunate Events as part of the Series: Catch Up challenge.

So what goodies did you guys pick up this week?

Life Tidbits

  • It has been such a busy week at work.  I had three regular story times, a pajama story time, and then a craft program.  It was exhausting.  Plus, end of the year ordering.  So glad it’s over.
  • I have a Sephora VIB Friends and Family coupon!  LOVE IT!  I already picked some stuff up at the store, but I also want to order a few things online.  Gosh, I love makeup.
  • My dad’s birthday is on Wednesday, and my mom and I are taking him out to dinner to Delmonico’s.  He’s 61!
  • I’m really excited about Thanksgiving this year.  My dad’s side of the family are coming over to my parent’s house.  Although, it will be the first Thanksgiving since my grandfather passed away, which does make me sad.  It’s been close to a year, and I feel like I am just now being able to talk about him.
  • My dad was totally awesome yesterday and helped me out with some yard stuff after work.  I love being a homeowner, and I can deal with almost anything.  But man, I hate dealing with yard stuff.  Yuck!
  • I picked up some clementines at Wegmans last week.  Yumm!  And also, I feel so bad for all those that don’t have the wonderfulness that is Wegmans!

  1. I just recently read Beautiful Disaster and created a playlist
for it. It’s the first book that has legitimately made me think of music.

  2. Lisa says:

Oh, New Adult. It took me a while to really understand what the New Adult genre was supposed to be. At first it seemed like no two explanations were alike and it was just confusing and blah. Now that people have their ducks in a row about the genre I think I can really get on board with it. It is a genre aimed at me, after all.

I don’t think I said the word “genre” enough. Do you? (Hah)

  3. I loved BD, but I know it’s not for everyone. It might have been the first NA book for me too. Quite different from YA, lol. I have all the Series of Unfortunate Events books for my kids but we haven’t started them yet. One day…

Thanks for stopping by Book Sojourner!

  4. Nice haul! I loved A Series of Unforutunate Events (at least the ones I read). (; Thanks for stopping by IMM.

  5. Heather Wood says:

Thanks for stopping by my IMM! I love New Adult books, but I had a hard time getting into BD because I didn’t really like Travis and stopped reading a quarter way through. I’ve heard so many great things, I may have to give it another shot. Enjoy!

  6. Lucy says:

Looking forward to your review of Beautiful Disaster! I liked it too and am looking forward to reading Travis’s pov in the next book. Have a great week!

    • Quinn says:

My review will be up soon I think. I liked it. Certainly is filled with drama, though! I definitely want to read Walking Disaster. I want to know what Travis was thinking throughout this story. He’s a little nuts, but completely devoted to Abby.

  7. Ooo…I really liked Beautiful Disaster. It’s gotten some differing opinions I’ve seen. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Check out my IMM & SP.

I liked it. I do sort of have mixed feelings about it. I mean it was soooo dramatic! But I thought the characters were really well developed, and I couldn’t put it down. My review should be up soon.

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
