Deja Vu Review (10)

So, Brittany from The Book Addict’s Guide has started a new weekly feature called The Deja Vu Review, where we can give mini reviews of books we’ve read before we started blogging (or books we never wrote reviews for).  I think this is a great idea, and although it means I’m participating in five memes a week (I know that is crazy!  But I will still post at least two book reviews a week) I wanted to support Brittany.  Plus, it is fun!

He’s with Me by Tamara Summers
Rating: 2/5 stars
Mini-Review: So I read this book a few weeks ago at the request of a teen girl who frequents the library where I work.  I didn’t have enough to say about it to warrant a full review, but I thought it would work well for this feature.  The only way I can describe this book is to call it PG.  There’s lots of reflecting on holding boys hands, and stuff like that.  There’s really nothing else I can say about this book.  I guess it was cute, and you can finish it very quickly, but this is complete fluff.  And I don’t mind fluff, but this might even be a bit too light for me.

About Quinn

I'm a twenty-something children's librarian at a public library in Central New York. I've long left my teen years behind me, but I love to read YA and children's books. I have two adorable dogs. Other things I love: Favorite Movie: Singing in the Rain Favorite Book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Favorite TV Show: Monk

I’m not into too much fluff but I might check this out.

  2. Brittany says:

Ack, don’t you hate that when you read a book that someone suggests and it’s just like, “ummmm… I didn’t quite care for it”
That works perfectly for the feature 🙂 It’s hard to say a lot sometimes.

    • Quinn says:

It can definitely be awkward when someone raves about a book that you feel “meh” about.

      • This happens to me a lot! Especially since sometimes it was just a particular mood that I was in… oh well!

I know what you mean about liking fluff but some things just being too much. I like to enjoy my fluff, not feel like I’m wasting my time, ya know?

      • Quinn says:

I definitely know what you mean about not wanting to waste your time. I think what it was about this book is that I think Teens deserve books better than this. I am not one to say a book is better than another book. But this one was just so ‘meh”.

I don’t think I would be too crazy for a fluff book like this one either. It can be difficult to write reviews when most of what you want to say is not in favor of the book. Here is my Deja Vu
