Q: What book do you think would make a great Halloween movie? Please explain in graphic detail of goriness…

Hmm . . . This is a tough one.  Although I do love a good ghost story, I don’t read any that are ridiculously scary.  I like some suspense, and a little creepiness, but nothing too crazy.  But I think this one would  make a good Halloween movie.  Actually, I think this would make a great movie anytime 🙂

Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore
This one has a ghost, witches, and a mystery.  What’s not to like?

Another good one would be

A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz
This is a MG novel, and there is lots of gore in this one.  Kids getting their heads cut off, little girls losing a finger, boys turning into wolves and being skinned.  Okay so this one is filled with gore, but I don’t think it is particularly scary.  But fun!

Which books do you think would make great Halloween movies?

  1. I haven’t read these but they sound like good Halloween choices. The cover of Texas Gothic looks creepy. I think anything like that with the word Texas in it makes me think of chainsaws….

Yes! Texas Gothic would make a FANTASTIC movie!!! I don’t see it as being particularly scary, and wouldn’t want Hollywood to make it super scary, but it would be so so so good! And a Tale Dark and Grim sounds great. I’ll have to check that one out!

I don’t see Texas Gothic being particularly scary, either, and I like it that way. I like a little tension, and I think that Hollywood could make it adequately scary when the ghost first arrives. But I wouldn’t want it like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or anything.

A Tale Dark and Grimm is really fun.

  7. A tale dark and Grimm would be awesome! I adore that book 🙂
