Waiting on Poison by Bridget Zinn

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine.  WoW gives us the opportunity to highlight an upcoming release that we are really excited about.

Poison by Bridget Zinn
Expected Release Date: March 12, 2013

Summary from GoodReads:

Sixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction–which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend. But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart…misses. Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?
Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress–she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.

I’ve been seeing this book floating around WoW for the last few weeks, and doesn’t it look amazing!?  On another note, I can’t help but compare this cover to a promo picture for Snow White and the Huntsman.  Don’t you think they strongly resemble each other?  I know I do.

  1. I definitely can’t wait for this one ❤ The cover is gorgeous and is indeed very similar to the movie poster.

  2. I thought of the Snow White movie poster too! It looks exactly the same. This one sounds interesting. I’ll probably read it =) Here’s My WOW

Yeah, totally looks like Snow White, but wow… sounds like a fantastic read! I haven’t seen it around, but am glad I saw it on your blog! 🙂

  7. LS Murphy says:

Sounds like a great read. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  8. YES to this book, and great call on the covers, you are absolutely right. This sounds a bit like Graceling/Throne of Glass, and I totally want to read it.

  9. Ohhh this book sounds so cool. And I do agree the girl on the cover resembles Kristen Stewart from Snow White & The Huntsman lol. I like the premise because the main character is kind of line an anti-hero. She doesn’t sound like an antagonist at all, so it would be cool to see how the story unfolds. Thanks for stopping by my blog :).

I have to say that when I first heard of this book it was around the time that Snow White and the Huntsman was everywhere and I thought the cover looked so much like the poster that I just passed this book by. I’m not sure why. But now that I go back and read the summary I actually want to give this book a go!

  15. Yes, they do have the resemblance.
It’s so sad to know that the author has died of cancer..she won’t be witnessing the success of her book. 😦
Thanks for droppin by my WoW earlier, btw.
