Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish.  I never do well with listing books I plan to read, because I am such a big mood reader.  What seemed perfect when I make the list, may not fit my mood afterwards.  But I am going to give this a try.  Some books will be released in the fall, and other books are ones I just want to read.

1.  Decked with Holly by Marni Bates.  This comes out September 25th, and I am so excited about it.  I absolutely loved Awkward by Marni Bates
2.  The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling.  It’s J.K. Rowling!!!  This is released September 27th
3.  Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick.  I’m excite to see how this series ends.
4.  Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill.  I’ve been excited about this book for months.

5.  The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.  I plan on listening to this via audiobook.
6.  Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins.  I also plan on listening to this via audiobook.
7.  Heist Society by Ally Carter.  This one looks like so much fun!
8.  Sorcery & Cecelia by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer.  I’ve been meaning to read this book forever.  Hopefully I get to it this season.

9.  The Fine Art of Truth or Dare by Melissa Jensen.  This one seems so cute!
10.  Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig.  When I was a kid I was obsessed with Robin Hood.  So I definitely need to read this one.

Life Tidbits

  • It was so nice having a three-day weekend!  I spent Sunday at my aunt’s house on Lake Ontario.  It was so beautiful, the weather was amazing, the water was beautiful and all the little kids had a great time.
  • I went to the movies with my friend and her daughter on Saturday.  I love spending time with them.
  • I have been on a Monk kick lately, watching the TV show from Netflix.  Gosh, I love this show.  Do you guys watch Monk?  It is probably my most favorite TV show ever!  Tony Shalhoub is amazing!
  • The Syracuse City School kids start school today.  It is going to be weird not having as many kids in the library during the day.  September is always a good month for me to get some weeding done.
  • Beginning on Saturday I will be on vacation!  Nine whole days off!  I am so excited about that.  I plan on reading like crazy, and going to a library booksale near Rochester, and maybe painting my living room a nice blue.

I forgot all about the new JK book!!! I think I’ll wait to hear what people think. Obviously it won’t be HP.
And please, for the life of me, DON’T listen to The Fault in Our Stars on audiobook! I absolutely hated the narrator and I think it kind of ruined the book for me. I think it’d be so much better just reading it! 🙂

    • Quinn says:

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear the narrator was not good for the audiobook of TFIOS! I know, I am not sure what to think about the new JK Rowling book, but I hope it is amazing. I’m sure it will be well writer, because it is JK Rowling, but, like you said, it won’t be Harry Potter.

      • Candice says:

I was going to comment the same thing; don’t listen to TFIOS on audio because someone told me it was not good! Must have been Brittany who said it was bad.. haha! I will say listen to Lola or Heist Society on audio, because they are both… sigh, wonderful. Good luck with your list! 🙂

  2. Rory O'Connor says:

Happy 6 months and a day by the lake sounds amazing. And I can’t wait for The Casual Vacancy!

  3. Lucy says:

Thanks again for telling me about Decked with Holly! Heist Society is a lot of fun. And I have yet to listen to TFIOS audio, but I have the John Green and the Kate Rudd narrated versions. The reviews are good for the audio on audible, so I hope you enjoy it! Happy fall reading & have a wonderful vacation!

  4. Liesel Hill says:

Those all look awesome! The Fault in Our Stars is high on my TBR list. Happy Tuesday! 😀

  5. Mary @ My Sisters Bookshelf says:

Sorcery and Cecilia! Our TTT has Decked With Holly too!

  6. Sounds like an awesome TBR list! I wish you good reading!!!

  7. Ooh, great call with Heist Society… I bought that last summer and still haven’t had a chance to get to it! I can’t believe JKR’s new book comes out at the end of this month!!! 🙂

Great list, and thanks for stopping by!

I do that too – buy books, and then not read them right away. Glad I’m not the only one!

I can’t believe her new book comes out either! A new JK Rowling that isn’t HP. I am so curious about it!

  8. I can’t wait for The Casual Vacancy or Meant to Be! 🙂 I loved The Fault in Our Stars and The Heist Society is so much fun, so I hope you enjoy these novels! Great picks! 😀

  9. Vyki says:

Great picks! I loved Anna and the French Kiss, so I can’t wait to read Lola and the Boy Nextdoor. Here’s mine: http://whatsontheshelf.wordpress.com/2012/09/04/top-ten-tuesday-21/

  10. I used to LOVE watching Monk. My boyfriend and I would watch that everyday after work on Netflix because it’s just fun to watch, ya know?

Anyways as for books, Heist Society is awesome, especially on audio. Angela Dawe’s narration really made the book for me.

Prepare to be blown away by The Fault In Our Stars.

ALSO. The Casual Vacancy, I feel like a bad Rowling fan because I am waffling on ordering it.

AND OMG THAT COVER OF DECKED WITH HOLLY? GET IN MY HOUSE. It’s too adorable looking.

    • Quinn says:

Oh my gosh, I could talk about Monk all day! I have seen every episode a zillion times, and it still isn’t enough.

I might have to try Heist Society as an audiobook – thanks for the recommendation!

I have heard just amazing things about TFIOS!

Well, The Casual Vacancy is super expensive! $35 List price, so I don’t plan on ordering it. But I am number one on the holds list at my library, so I will get first crack at it. If I love it I probably will buy a copy for myself (not that JK Rowling needs any more money – but just because she is filthy rich doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be paid for good work).

I am ridiculously excited (I think I have used that phrase a billion times today) about Decked with Holly. Can’t wait for 9/25!

  11. Loni says:

Casual Vacancy is on so many lists…. It’s not on mine…. why?? I don’t know. I really do want to read it.

  12. tinalinatime says:

I loved Anna so I’m kicking myself for not having read Lola already and I’ve been wanting to read Heist Society and The Fine Art of Truth or Dare for ages! Plus, of course, it seems like we both need to get a start on The Fault in Our Stars haha x) Fantastic list and thanks for stopping by!

  15. rachelanette says:
