Top Ten Blogs/Sites I Read That Aren’t About Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. This week we are listing our top ten blogs or websites that we read that aren’t about books.

This is such a fun topic.  I don’t actually read a lot of other blogs that aren’t about books.  Of course, I read lots of blogs about YA Lit.  I also follow a lot that are about being a librarian, but of course those discuss books, too.  Anyway, here are the blogs:

1.  Beauty Broadcast.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE makeup.  I subscribe to a whole bunch a beauty channels on Youtube.  But one of my favorite channel on Youtube is emilynoel83.  She also has a blog, that I love.  Emily is great.  She mixes high-end makeup with drugstore makeup.

2.  The Newsies Banner.  When I was a tween, I was obsessed with the movie Newsies.  Although not the best movie in the world, I loved it (and I was definitely part of the cult following the movie developed)!  Well, 20 years after the movie was released (and bombed, BTW), Disney Theatricals adapted it for Broadway, and it is doing soooooo well.  Newsies: The Musical has been nominated for 8 Tony Awards, including Best New  Musical.  The Newsies Banner is their official blog.  Newsies: The Musical is an amazing show, and if you get to NYC go see it!  The dancing is amazing!  Check out youtube for clips from the Broadway show.  Jeremy Jordan as Jack is pretty awesome too.  Okay, I have to stop talking about Newsies, now.

3.  Flannel Friday.  So this blog is sort-of book related.  It is a site where librarians, and other people who use flannel stories, can share their flannel story ideas.  I use flannel stories in my storytimes every week.  The kids love them, and it is a great way to tell a story.  But I need very specific instructions on how to make them, with templates, and pictures.  Flannel Friday is perfect for that.  Here is a pictures from Miss Mary Liberry if you want to see what a flannel story looks like.

So . . . that’s it.  Pretty much every other blog I follow is book related,  What non-book blogs do you love?

Oh, and Of Poseidon is released today!  I am so excited, and cannot wait to get my hands on this one!

Newsies is awesome! If you go to Youtube, and search Newsies Broadway, you can find clips and behind the scenes stuff from the show. Flannel stories are great! Thanks for stopping by.

I think I’m the only one who didn’t have very much trouble picking non-book sites. 🙂 I totally want to see Newsies on Broadway now.

I did have a difficult time thinking of non-book websites. But after reading some other Top Ten Tuesdays, I realize there were a few more I could have included.

Newsies is amazing! I saw it in April, and it was so awesome. The audience was so enthusiastic with standing ovations, and everything. But the show is great, and the dancing is out-of-this-world. The things those guys can do. Wow. I hope you get to see it!

  3. I’d love for you to stop by my Top Ten 🙂

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
