TGIF: Book Series Finales

TGIF is a weekly event hosted over at GReads.  TGIF lets us re-cap this weeks posts, and answer is bookish question.  This Friday’s question is:

Book Series Finales: Which book, from any series has been your favorite ending? What about your least favorite ending?
I have two favorite series finales.  The first one is . . . you guessed it!  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling.
I loved how the whole series ended.  I was so very satisfied at the conclusion of HP7.  Although HP7 is not my favorite HP book (that honor belongs to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkhaban), I felt like I could let go of Harry when I finished HP.
The other series finale I loved was The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman, the third book of the His Dark Materials series ( more of a middle grade book).
Although this book was a bit bitttersweet, I thought it was amazing.  Lyra’s and Will’s adventure had been completed.  This series is definitely not for everyone.
Honorable mention need to go out to City of Glass, the finale for the Mortal Instruments.  I loved the ending of that one, as well.
I don’t actually have a least favorite series finale, though.  I’ve usually stopped reading the series long before the final book.
What are your favorite series finales?

  1. I’m the same way with series – once it starts to go downhill, I usually don’t finish a book. But, sometimes, I get taken by surprise, not knowing the ending is not going to be to my liking.

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
