Q: What is your guilty pleasure as far as reading? Is it a genre, or is it a certain type of book?
I’m not sure if I have a guilty pleasure. I mean, saying it’s a guilty pleasure implies that I am embarrassed, and I’m not really embarrassed by what I read. And I don’t think people should be embarrassed. Who is anyone to judge what someone reads?
I like pretty much all genres except dystopian and science fiction (except Cinder!). Well, I guess a guilty pleasure is that I love romance, although I don’t feel guilty about it. Nowadays I love YA romance. I love that whole first love thing. Oh, sometimes I get really into books even when I know they aren’t stellar.
I love Spellbound by Cara Lynn Shultz. It’s not a perfect novel, but I keep re-reading it. I love seeing Emma and Brendan getting together, and I love that he is completely devoted to her once they finally get together. There is no back and forth. I hate that crap. Sorry, but I do. I think I’ve read it four time since the first time I read it about a year ago. Have you guys read this one?
As for adult books, I’m kind of a sucker for Julie Garwood’s historical books. I love the heroes. They are always steady, and faithful, plus the books are usually pretty funny. So, what’s your guilty pleasure?

I’m the same–not really a guilty pleasure but I came up with something that kind of qualified. Great answer!
Happy Friday!

I agree… I am not embarrassed by anything I read. Though I guess a guilty pleasure for me is YA!
Hopping through. I’m with you. Not a dystopia fan but I do love Cinder!
My Hop
Is this dislike of dystopian books an always -held dislike or genre exhaustion? I think I’ve seen more evidence of the latter but always interested to hear from someone who didn’t really like it in the first place.
I don’t like dystopian books because they freak me out. I’ve barely read any.
I feel the same way as you, I don’t really have a guilty pleasure as far as books anymore. I used to feel guilty-ish pleasure out of reading zombie fiction but then I read This Is Not A Test by Courtney Summers and decided there was nothing to feel guilty about.
I feel the same way. I don’t feel bad about anything I read anymore. But I used to consider zombie fiction a guilty pleasure

Thanks for stopping by my post
Most of my real life friends / family look down on romance readers and sometimes I’m the joke, but you know to me it doesn’t matter what people read as long as they read. That’s the most important thing.
I still haven’t read Julie Garwood even though a few people keep recommending me to her.
Nice blog!

Huh. I haven’t read Spellbound, but it sounds really good! Historical books aren’t really my cup of tea, but I’m glad that you enjoy them!

So funny that you mention Spellbound – I’d never heard of it before today, but I saw a Tweet a few hours ago that it was available for free download, so now I’ve got it!
I agree with you IN THEORY that we should not be embarrassed by what we read. However, that’s easy to say from the comfort of my living room, but there are a lot of books I’d be embarrassed to whip out on a plane, for example! Hellooooo, cheesy covers.

Thanks for visiting! I finally have a copy of Spellbound. I hate the back and forth crap too! I feel like it’s unnecessary sometimes.
I haven’t read Julie Garwood yet but I’m checking her out now
