In My Mailbox #49 / Stacking the Shelves #8

In My Mailbox is a weekly event hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren.  Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week.

Stacking the Shelves

I just picked up one book this week, from the library.

fitzwilliam darcy rockstar

Fitzwilliam Darcy Rock Star by Heather Lynn Rigaud
I’m still on my Pride and Prejudice kick.  I read Me and Mr. Darcy this week (which was disappointing) so I’m going to try something else.  I’m not really into band stories, but I am willing to give it a try.

Life Tidbits

  •  I’ve been putting a mixture of chocolate and peanut butter chips into my vanilla yogurt.  Oh my gosh, it is so good!  You should try it sometime.
  • I’ve been super lazy about keeping up with housework and stuff lately.  All I want to do is chill.
  • It’s official, I am going to DC in April!  I can’t wait.  I’m going to see American Ballet Theatre perform Le Corsair, and catch the tail end of the Cherry Blossom Festival.  Also, I’m going to my favorite ice cream shop ever, Carl’s, in Fredericksburg, VA!  Best ice cream ever!!!
  • I haven’t been reading a ton lately.  It’s not like I haven’t been reading at all, but not a ton.  I’m hoping I can get into a reading binge again.  Whenever I get into a reading binge, when it ends, I can barely get myself to read.  Isn’t that funny?  Anyone else have the same problem?

I definitely go through phases with my reading. Sometimes it takes me a good solid week (sometimes even more) to get through one book, and other weeks I can get through three or four books (while also balancing work) in a week. I also never know when those moods will strike, which can be challenging when you’re trying to post new content!

And the chocolate/peanut butter yogurt sounds really yummy. I think I might just give it a try!

  2. I really have to read a band story at some point! Enjoy :)

  3. ChrissiReads says:

I go through stages of my reading too. I hope you enjoy your book!

  4. I haven’t been feeling well so I am behind on reading as well! I am curious about the Darcy as a rockstar retelling though it does remind me of Jane!

  5. I never realised there were so many retellings of Jane Eyre in modern versions. Hope you enjoy this one much better! :)

  6. This sounds like a good book. I am in love with all the New Adult Contemporaries coming about. I can’t get enough of them.

  7. Jen says:

That chocolate/PB chip in vanilla yogurt sounds AWESOME. I wish I had some right now, seriously. Have a great week! :)

  8. We try to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival every year since we live in Maryland. I didn’t know about the best ice cream ever though (I’ll look for it)

I love P&P and anything related! Thanks for stopping by!

    • Quinn says:

Lol. I think Carl’s is the best ever, but I’m not sure if everyone would believe me. It’s in Fredericksburg, VA. If you are ever there, be sure to check it out. It only have soft serve, but not the soft serve that comes out of the machine that you have to pull the lever down. It’s way better. And they only have three flavors (chocolate, vanilla and strawberry) and barely any toppings. It’s all about the ice cream. Okay, I’m going to stop talking about Carl’s now :)

  9. This one’s new to me, but I hope you’re not disappointed :) Enjoy what you got this week! Thanks for sharing and happy reading!

  10. I haven’t heard of this one.
    Happy reading,

  11. Nice. Sometimes having a smaller haul is the way to go.

Congrats on going to DC. I’ve always wanted to go there for the Cherry Blossom festival. Hopefully, I can make it down there next year.

    Enjoy!

  12. It’s alright I get times like that when I just can’t get into reading whereas there are other times when I can read two novels in one day…so don’t worry it’ll come back ;)

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on my Stacking the Shelves post.

  13. I get like that at times as well. In fact in January I read soooo much and I’m finding it hard to read already for February :S Why can’t we ever have a happy medium :P I hope you enjoy your book and congrats on going to DC :)

  14. Suzanne says:

I’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed by Me and Mr. Darcy! THis one sounds.. .interesting!

  15. Siiri says:

I have the same problem with reading. Once I get into it, no problems, but once it’s over I just cannot force myself to read anything. Hmhhh.. It sucks.

I haven’t read this particular book, but I have a soft spot for one rocker and that’s Mr. Kellan Kyle. Ugh, love that dude! I hope you have fun with this one, though. Happy reading:)

  16. Jessica says:

    Hey Quinn,
I love your life tidbits added to your blog. I have been on a reading binge for about 8 weeks. There are definitely lulls though. I hope you come out of yours soon. Thanks for stopping by my STS.

I got the idea for the life tidbits from emilynoel83′s (that’s her Youtube name) blog (beautybroadcast.net). She does Daily Nuggets, and they are usually my favorite part of her blog posts, so I thought I would try them out. They’re fun to do.

Awesome about your eight-week reading binge!!!

  17. Thanks for stopping by my STS! I got into a Pride and Prejudice kick too not that long ago! This one sounds fun!

  18. My reading level can so have to do with what is going on in my life. I’m lucky that I can read while at work, I work at a front desk and can read on the downtime, so I always have something going. The weekends are where it can get rocky with me, tons of errands or plans can leave me with less reading time than I like. Maybe more hours in the day would help?

    • Quinn says:

I would love more hours in the day! Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

I tend to read most on weekends – particularly on Sundays. I try to reserve Sundays for major reading days.

  19. I read Me and Mr. Darcy a few years ago, and thought it was pretty cute! :)

“Fitzwilliam Darcy Rock Star” looks cute! :)

    • Quinn says:

I didn’t hate Me And Mr. Darcy, but I did have some issue with it. I will have a review up sometime soon. I am glad that you liked it, though :)

  20. Kelly says:

Mr. Darcy as a rock star? That sounds funny!
All I want to do is chill too! But college started again this week and I already have loads to do. D: Good luck to both of us!

My STS & check out my SIGNED Everbound and Boundless Giveaway if you have time! (:

  21. I haven’t heard of this book before, but I hope you enjoy it :-)
Totally understandable that ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is difficult to let go ;-)
My IMM (and check out my very first giveaway, YAY).

  22. Seriously… now I’m dying to try your new yogurt tip!! That sounds awesome!!! :)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week! :)

  23. Sounds like you have been busy! I don’t always get to read a ton either. Working full time makes that kind of hard. Also I am trying the yogurt thing! Hope you enjoy your books!

  24. Hope you enjoy your new read! I go on book binges too! Last year I kinda burned out & didn’t really read much for like a month or two. hahaa, idk it was weird. I always try to go crazy in January though to get ahead/headstart on my yearly goal. <3

  25. Sara says:

I always feel like I should hang my head in shame whenever I admit that I haven’t actually read Pride and Prejudice. I will someday. I hope you enjoy your book. The exact same thing happens to me after a reading binge, once it’s over I have a long recovery period.

    Happy Reading,

    Sara @ Just Another Story

    • Quinn says:

Don’t feel bad about not having read P&P. Although, I totally recommend that you read it, because it is the BEST BOOK EVER! :)

Definitely a long recovery period :(

  26. Monica says:

I get the same way about reading from time to time. Enjoy your trip.

  27. I’ve never heard of this one but the cover is really cute. I hope you enjoy it!

  28. I just FINALLY started reading Pride & Prejudice. I can’t believe I haven’t read it before now! I’m enjoying it so far, which I expected because I enjoyed one of the movie adaptations, and I LOVE The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on YouTube.

I hope you love this new book! Happy reading!

  29. Cyn says:

Yay! More Pride and Prejudice is never a bad thing ;)
Have fun on your trip, sounds tons of fun! I love cherry blossoms. Never seen a ballet before though.
Sometimes I feel like a fill a quota for reading and just need a break before I can get back to enjoying it haha.
Thanks for stopping by Bookmunchies (:
