Deja Vu Review (20)

Brittany from The Book Addict’s Guide has started a new weekly feature called The Deja Vu Review, where we can give mini reviews of books we’ve read before we started blogging (or books we never wrote reviews for).  I think this is a great idea, and although it means I’m participating in five memes a week (I know that is crazy!  But I will still post at least two book reviews a week) I wanted to support Brittany.  Plus, it is fun!

Topic: a book with a food theme

somethings cookingSomething’s Cooking by Joanne Pence
Rating: 3/5 Stars
Goodreads Summary: For sassy food writer Agenlina Amalfi, life’s a banquet – until the man who’s been contributing unusual recipes for her column is found dead. Suddenly Angie’s being stalked by a killer. Not one to simper in fear, instead she simmers over the delectable homicide cop assigned to the case. Then two more deaths follow, and Angie is on the run.
Mini-Review: I was completely addicted to these Angie Amalfi mysteries when I was a freshman in college.  I started reading them after I had read all the Stephanie Plum books at the time.  It’s been awhile since I’ve read them, and I am certainly not up-to-date on all the books, but I particularly liked this one (which is the first in the series).  I thought Angie was a great character, and I definitely had a little crush on the detective (actually I think he was an Inspector – it’s set in San Francisco).  So if you are looking for a light mystery with fun characters and a little romance check out this one.

  1. Oh man. In theory I like cozy mysteries, but in real life I never actually read them, but I want to, because I liked the Stephanie Plum books. Seriously, I just need to retire at 30 and read books full time so I can read cozy mysteries.

Oh my gosh, I would love to retire at 30 (that’s only a few months away!) an read books the rest of my days. Talk about heaven!

I don’t read a ton of cozy mysteries anymore, but I used to love them.

  2. Brittany says:

Ooh I always love finding a good recommendation for a new cozy mystery! Thanks for sharing this one :) It sounds like a lot of fun!

  3. Sounds interesting! I’m not always a fan of mysteries, but I may have to check this out. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Kara says:

It sounds pretty good. I’m not a huge fan of mysteries either, but this one intrigues me. Thanks! :)

Go ahead, make my day! No really, comments make my day! Let me know what you think.
