In My Mailbox #46 / Stacking the Shelves #5

In My Mailbox is a weekly event hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren.  Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week.

Stacking the Shelves

This was definitely a good week in books for me :)

IMM46

From a friend:

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
!!!!!!!!

From Barnes and Noble I purchased:

Altered by Jennifer Rush
(Not pictured – sorry, I forgot to grab it.  Cute guy on the cover, though)

I won the following from a blog tour:

Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger

From Kensington Books:

Instant Gratification by Jill Shalvis
I definitely need to read some more of her books!  Thanks Kensington!

And, it wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t bring some books home from the library:

Mr. Monk on the Road by Lee Goldberg
Mr. Monk is Miserable by Lee Goldberg
I had to check out some of these mysteries since Monk is one of my favorite TV shows!  Also, had a nice chat on Twitter about these books with Alice in Readerland.

How to Be Popular by Meg Cabot
(the audiobook)

Alanna: the First Adventure by Tamora Pierce
(the audiobook – also not pictured – it’s in my car)

The Witches by Roald Dahl
(the audiobook – also not pictured – it’s in my car)

See, fantastic week in books for me :)  I hope you had a wonderful week, too!

Life Tidbits

  • What’s the opposite of a reading slump?  Because, whatever it is, I’m totally in it!  I can’t seem to stop reading, and all week I stayed up way too late reading.  But I’m not complaining!
  • Because I’ve stayed up so late all week, on Friday, I fell asleep on the couch from about 7 to 9:15 pm!  Thank goodness I’m not working Saturday.
  • Dad is coming up on Sunday to put up some bookshelves for me!  So excited!
  • I’ve been watching CSI: Miami on Netflix streaming.  I know, David Caruso is a terrible actor (who loves his sunglasses!), but it’s the only CSI available on streaming.

  1. Thanks so much for the mention, it was fun talking to you on Twitter, not many of my friends are Monk fans! Mr. Monk is Miserable was the first Monk book I read, and I’ve been wanting to read Mr. Monk on the Road! :) And of course, I’m very excited to see what you think of Scarlet!

    • Quinn says:

Not many of friends are Monk fans, either. Their totally missing out! :)

I think I will read Mr. Monk is Miserable before Mr. Monk on the Road. I put on hold Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii, which looks like fun too. I’m so glad you said I should read the books. :)

  2. Merin says:

I just finally picked up Cinder (I was waiting for the pb release), after hearing so many good things about it. Looking forward to reading it and finally getting on the bandwagon!

    My StS Post :)

    • Quinn says:

Cinder is amazing! Seriously. I don’t even like science fiction, but love Cinder. I think it’s the only science fiction book I’ve ever read and enjoyed. I do expect to love Scarlet, too, though. :)

  3. Lucy says:

Ooh Scarlet – nice! Altered is another one I’m curious about. Glad you’re getting lots of reading done! It’s good to get ahead in case you get into a slump down the road. Enjoy all your new reads!

  4. I hear good tings about Scarlet! Enjoy :)

  5. Ohh you got Scarlet, lucky you!
Happy reading for all your books.

  6. I remember liking Alona, hope you do too.

  11. Heidi says:

I’d call the opposite of a reading slump a book binge! Good for you. I kind of did the same the last few weeks of December, which was nice, but of course now I’m like 20 reviews behind. :P

I’m sure you’re going to love Scarlet! Happy for you getting it. Also I LOVE The Witches, and really need to read Alana, so I’m excited to hear what you think of the audio. Cheers!

    • Quinn says:

      Book Binge! That’s perfect.

The audio for The Witches is so, so. The narrator – well, he is kind of affected. But still pretty good. It helps that the story is awesome!

  12. Bree says:

Enjoy your haul! I’ve heard great things about many of those books…haven’t read any myself though! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  33. Carmen B. says:

Ohh, I’d love to read Altered! Great haul :) I’ve also been meaning to read something by Tamora Pierce for a while… and I know Scarlet is a really coveted title, though I must admit I still haven’t read Cinder *ducks head*
Enjoy all that you got, and thanks for stopping by earlier!

    • Quinn says:

I didn’t read Cinder until recently, but I have to say, it is AMAZING! It deserved every bit of hype. Definitely give it a try.

Altered was good. My review should be up soon.

  34. Ooh I love The Witches and How to be Popular! (Although I don’t know how good the audiobooks are.) Keeper of the Lost Cities sounds good and congrats on the win!

Hope you enjoy all of your new books and thanks for stopping by my blog. (:

    • Quinn says:

The narrator for the audiobook of The Witches is a little eh. I think he is affected – acting a certain way because he THINKS kids would like it. But it doesn’t bother me enough to stop listening.

  35. I ADORE your blog header BTW :) so simple and cute! Love it.

I didn’t realize Monk the show was based on books! And yay for getting Scarlet, since you just finished Cinder! I liked Scarlet even more than Cinder if that’s possible! :)

Thanks for stopping by my StS! :)
